My magazine would be published by Frontline because they are well-known for selling some of the biggest magazines in the UK, for example Heat and Bella. Frontline is one of the four most successful distributors and produce mainstream magazines that appeal to the masses, which in the category that my magazine would fall into. This is because it appeals to a mainstream audience of 9-13 year olds.My magazine would be published by the major conglomeration Bauer, who publish Q, which is the biggest monthly music magazine. The mainstream nature of Bauer is suitable for my magazine type because it audience is young and therefore into mainstream qualities.
Frontline sells and distributes over 180 of our Partners' magazine titles, including 70 of the top 200 best selling titles in the UK. The magazines sell nearly 8.5 million copies every week through 55,000 shops ranging from the smallest corner store to the biggest hypermarket. This makes them the biggest magazine distributor in the UK.Frontline's job is to maximise the sales of the magazines in the most cost-effective way. To do this, they connect their Partner's knowledge of their readers with the retailers' understanding of their shoppers in order to develop effective strategies for driving category sales. They are also investing in sophisticated software solutions to ensure that they are getting the right magazines, in the right numbers, into the right shops.Frontline employs nearly 200 people with over 100 of these based in our Peterborough offices. The talented people at Frontline make them the successful and influential business that they are. As the magazine industry enters a period of significant change, their workers will continue to keep them at the forefront of industry thinking and will ensure the continued delivery of their objectives.
Throughout creating my magazine, I have focussed on Top of the Pops magazine which is a current music magazine in the same genre and style as mine. TOTP Mag use Frontline as a distributor and BBC as a publisher because it is a BBC production. I felt that using the same or very similar type of distributor and publisher would benefit my magazine because they are both very similar media products.
advantages.My magazine can be distributed to a wider range of stores such as Tesco and W H Smith.The distribution company (Frontline) are well respected within the industry and therefore large companies such as supermarkets (Sainsburys, Morrisons)  would be happy to sell the magazine.A multi-platform platform distribution strategy  can be used: Radioand Television advertising, as well as adverts in newspapers and leaflets.By using a mainstream distributor such as Frontline, I am able to distribute my magazine to a wide range of shops, which therefore leads to more sales and bigger profits. Also, when my magazine is bought by a huge established audience , I will be able to charge more money which means more money.A larger range of audiences can have access to my magazine as it is sold in most large superstores.
