Title of my magazine
 The masthead head of my magazine conforms to the audience’s
expectations. It’s what you would expect from a hip hop magazine it
uses elements from magazines such as the source magazine, XXL
     and vibe.
 I positioned my masthead straight across the top rather than in the
left hand side simply because it looked better in my opinion and in
that position it’s clearly and easily seen. I chose the colour red as
the main colour simply because it immediately catches the
audience’s attention because the colour red stands out due to its
brightness. I also chose the colour red because I believe it conforms
to the genre hip hop as well as black and white. I wanted to keep my
masthead simple in terms of a title so I chose ‘The industry’ because
it’s short, simple and snappy (instant gratification).
 I chose a font that would be simple, easy to read but yet still stud
out so I chose the: franklin gothic medium it was easily readable but
still had an impact. To make the masthead stand out even more I
bolded it out and added a black stroke.
Mise-En-Scène of the images

Both models are positioned in a simple way which shows there maturity. They are also facing each
other which interprets that they have some sort of relationship like being good friends, related or in
this case a band.

Both magazine chosen within my case studies have all the models directly looking at the reader.

The two artists are looking directly at the camera which makes it look as if they are looking at the
reader. This makes the reader feel important as it may feel like anything said in this magazine is
directed towards them. Usher is looking straight at the reader which establishes a relationship with
them. However he is wearing glasses which maintain the view of being superior.

I have also used this, to establish a similar relationship and because these are the traits of a real
magazine.
 Costumes and props
 I haven’t given or chosen for my models to
have props because I simply thought it wasn’t
necessary my aim was to present hip hop
    through my magazine in a
sophisticated, simple and professional way so
I didn’t think props were needed. I made both
modals wear plain strapped black dresses. My
aim with was to give the readers the
impression that my artists were mature as
    well as fears and sassy.
 Music genre and how your magazine suggests it
 I used different magazines based on the same
genre as my magazine to get a clear idea of what
a hip-hop magazine looks like. I also different
conventions from genre magazines and brings
them all into on, which develops the idea of hip
hop and how it’s evolving. However this could
also be challenging conventions of real media
products simply because again my magazine
brings different elements from different genres
    together.
 People
 The image of my front cover is obviously the most
important because it’s what attracts the readers the most.
The hip hop industry is a male dominated industry so hip
hop magazines predominantly have male rappers on their
front covers simply because they are more relevant so I
chose to have female models to challenge the normal
conventions of real hip hop media products. I also writ my
main headline influenced on this statement ‘Eron & Vancia
back on top ‘this simply meant that these to females are
back on top in the hip hop i.e. relevant again. The main
aim of this image/photo was to show the independence
and professionalism throughout the whole cover and I
think my models showed this off perfectly.
Layout

My front cover was inspired by this xxl magazine front cover. I chose to use this
magazine because it’s very simple bold and bright yet it still keeps the hip hop look
it’s also set out so it can be easily read it looks professional. However I did use
another magazine as well as this one and my own ideas as stated above.

The black box beneath the main headline particularly stood out for me because no
other magazine had it and also because it was another good way to get the
headlines in rather than having then having them bunched up on the page.

I also used xxl magazine as inspiration for my contents page how ever I still
kept some element conventional like naming it ‘contents page’. The
contents page of xxl magazine uses play the fast forward icon to signify
readers to carry on reading, I’ve used but this but rendered it I little and
used a play button I simply used this because it simply just relates to music.
However this could also be an improvement to the original as it uses a fast
forward icon it could interoperate that it’s telling the readers to skip pages
or move quickly where as the play button from my point of view just means
play, go with the flow or take your time.

Small things like the black line between the features was good it made it easier to take in. I also used
this same line to separate the features and the regulars.

The way the images were set out on this page also caught my attention
because again it was different and no other magazine had it (unique selling
point) I used this and changed some bits around and added my own twist
                          to it.
