Evaluation question 1:In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?Joe Harvey
Mast headThe mast head font that I used is very similar to the font used in blender magazine. I found that the font I used connoted with the the genre of my magazine which is a blend of two different styles of music, them two styles being indie rock and R&B. I used a very washed out red colour for the masthead because I thought that it would fit will with the dark background and also the colours really work in unison with the two different genres. I positioned my model differently to the model in blender because I wanted my model to have a stand out effect also I thought it would look that little bit professional. I thought the font I used didn’t look all that good on its own so I added a few adjustments such as a stroke and a drop shadow which made it bold and once again gave it that stand out effect. In the two professional magazines above the masthead is placed behind the models head. I used this technique in my magazine to create a sign of professionalism.
Front cover I based the majority of my magazine on blender, mainly because of the genre of music but also because of there style and layout. One thing I did differently to the the two blender magazines was the colours of the background, I went for the darker background instead of the white. Within my magazine I used a similar layout for example in both of the blender magazines they have very bold sell lines on both sides of the page I used this in my work because I thought It would give my product a sign of professionalism. my model is looking away another thing I did differently to blender, but still using the same layout and style.
Contents page For my contents page I used similar coloring to my front cover to create continuity. I made the important information bold making them eye grabbing to my audience for example Contents, This February are both important to this page. I have used a close up shot of my models face because of the features, her eyes and ears. The bold “hello” shows the audience that the mode has said the text on the page again I used this because thought it would make my magazine look more professional.
Double page spreadNME’s double page spread links with the cover and contents pages of their magazines, the font that has been used looks like the letters have been cut out and stuck on the page, this makes the page look more teenage related and aimed at. The fact that lily Allen is the model represents what audience the magazine is for. They use a quote as the title to attract the audience even more the quote is something that she has said in a interview. My double page spread also links with my front cover and contents page. The title dirty little secrets allows the audience to see that it is the name if the featured band, also I have used a quote similar to NME from my model “I wont go on stage unless my hair is done” this was something that the artist said in his interview. I have placed in his name in the bottom corner of the screen and made it stand out by using several effects such as a stroke and a drop shadow. This allows the audience to see that that’s the name of the model.
