WHAT IS MY TARGET AUDIENCE After researching many different types of music and guitar magazines, I ended up choosing a music genre that I personally like and will be able to relate to as if I was the reader, and that was rock. When I was looking at guitar magazines, I noticed that the genre in which they target is varied and quite wide spread. So I have tried merging both the rock genre and a guitar magazine into one, thus forming ‘MACHINE HEAD.

- 4. HOW DOES MY FRONT COVER ATTRACT MY TARGET AUDIENCE? Straight away, I have used a mast head that sounds aggressive, bold and represents the magazine in its entirety: ‘a guitar magazine for all the rock fans in the world’. The cover picture backs this statement up further, this is because, sticking out, right in the readers face, is a picture of a Gibson Les Paul, quite possibly, the most iconic rock guitar ever built. Then in the background, there is a slightly blurry static Marshall stack. Like Gibson, Marshall also scream Rock, they are driving sound of any rock band. On the left side of my magazine I have the tagline ‘Three free guitar tabs’. For the three guitar tabs, I have features three of the most recognizable rock songs ever written. There are also interviews with two of the most iconic guitarist of the 20th/21st century.
- 5. HOW DOES MY CONTENTS PAGE ATTRACT MY TARGET AUDIENCE Much like my front cover, straight away there is the main cover image that is symbolic to rock, the Marshall logo. At the bottom of the page, I have made an advertisement for a new album by the Foo Fighters. The Foo Fighters are widely known, and almost all ages know and like them. I have also have features on life as guitar roadie, and live reviews of rock bands.

HOW DOES MY DOUBLE PAGE SPREAD ATTRACT MY TARGET AUDIENCE My double page is essentially a guitar article more than a rock article, although I have tried to incorporate gear that is good for most genres, but it is great for a rock sound a guitarist is after. In the top right corner I have used a picture of a Marshall JCM 900 cabinet, which is an iconic Marshall cabinet, used by many guitarists. I have also used pictures of guitar heads, the guitar heads I have used also feature in the magazine article. This gives an insight as to what they would be buying. The guitars I have listed are either used or are copies used by famous rock guitarist, this could excite the reader, this is because they may think that using a certain guitar that is also used by a famous musician, that they aspire to, could make them really good at there instrument.
