- 3. I was inspired by many magazines when I made my own. NME, Volume Now and Billboard was the Magazines who inspired me the most. I have made my own version of a masthead, but I was inspired by NME. Both NME and MON are shortened versions of a longer name, shortened down to three letters. The masthead is placed in the top right corner which is the most common. This is because the magazines are placed in the store shelves where only the half right side is visible. By placing the masthead there, it may attract more buyers. Like many other magazines, I also have used my masthead in both the cover, contents page and the double page spreads, This makes the pages more proffesional and I think it made the pages more connected. There are many different versions of how the page numbers are exhibited, and the most common one is NME’s version to the left. I thought that was a bit boring, so I wanted to spice it up a bit. I therefore decided to make it like the big grey version to the left. It is not too much, but it is enough to make my pages look more interesting. I also considered the half circle version, but the half triangle fit the best to my magazine. Since the background colour of my magazine pages is grey, I decided to make it with a darker tone of grey, so it stand a little bit out, but not a lot.
- 4. When I made the cover of my magazine I was inspired by NME and Billboard. NME inspired me with the masthead, and Billboard with the coverlines. The first thing I thought when I saw this magazine cover of Billboard was how neat the look was. The coverlines are placed on a neat and tidy way, and I like this so much better than the usual coverpages where coverlines are placed over the whole page. I chose to have my splash image in colours, and also to have a barcode and a plug.
- 5. Before I started with my contents page I found this contents page of 50 Cent. I liked the fact that he was the only one on the page, instead of pictures all over the page. I felt that it was a bit «cleaner» and more organized than many other contents pages. I therefore decided to do the same, but include some other pictures to emphasize that the magazine actually is a music magazine. I wanted my own style, but chose to have the artist of my double page spread beside the features. I also chose not to write “contents” big on my contents page. This is because I felt like this was more professional looking, and you understand that it is a contents page without me writing it.
- 6. I was very inspired by the double page spread down to the left. I made my own version of that one. I have a bigger picture of one person in the middle, and many small pictures on the top of the page. You can see that I have been inspired while making this, but you can also that I have made my own version. Both the title, the quote, page number and pictures are quite different, but you can still see some similarities here and there.
