Looking back at my preliminary task, I learned to improve the quality of photography, layout, and conventions to look more like a real magazine. Specifically, in my main task I used a higher quality SLR camera instead of a point-and-shoot, allowing me to take better photos. I also gained Photoshop skills to better edit photos and replace backgrounds. The main task layouts had more appealing designs informed by deeper research into the target audience and genre. A clear color scheme also made the main task look more professional compared to the preliminary task.

In my preliminary project I used a Fujifilm camera to take pictures of my models, where as in the main task I used an SLR camera; this camera meant that the photos in my front cover, contents page and double page spread of my main task magazine were of a much higher quaintly than my preliminary task. I used Photoshop to make the covers of both magazines because it was easily accessible. During the preliminary task I had only been able to use the basic tools, but by the main task I was able to edit my photos to make them more like a real magazine. The backgrounds for my covers haven’t been replaced but the main task background looks a lot better because the editing has made it look so. In the preliminary task the layouts for all the pages were basic, where as in the main task there were more quirky design features, especially in my contents page. This was because I took deeper research into my target audience and genre of my magazine. This is also shown with the colours I have used. For the preliminary task the colours didn't match as well as the main task. Although a lot of the colours were suitable for the genre of the magazine there wasn't a clear scheme unlike the main task magazine.
