This chapter discusses the climate and vegetation of Africa. It talks about factors that influence climate such as distance from the equator, elevation, and rainfall. Certain geographic regions in Africa like rainforests, savannas, and deserts are described. Savannas receive some rainfall while deserts like the Sahara, Namib, and Kalahari receive very little and consist primarily of sand and small bushes. The climate and lack of water make living in these desert regions very challenging.
