The muscular system has many functions. There are 5 main functions. Firstly, it
allows us to balance via proprio receptors. In terms of balance, not only do you rely
on the two sensory organs in your inner ear but also receptors in your muscles and
tendons help your body to balance. The receptors in your muscles and tendons are
called proprio receptors, these proprio receptors detect how stretched your joints,
tendons and muscles are.
Secondly it allows movement as muscles cross joints and attach bone to bone.
Muscles work in pairs and skeletal muscles can pull in one direction and for this
reason they always come in pairs. Due to the fact that two muscles work together, as
one muscle in the pair contracts the other muscle relaxes for example as the bicep
contracts the triceps relaxes to once again straighten the joint out.
Thirdly our muscular system also allows blood circulation which is controlled by the
heart. The muscular pump is a skeletal muscle group that help to assist the heart in
the circulation of blood to all the muscles around the body.

AP Program Reflection
I feel the AP program is a good fit for me due to the fact that I am a student who
feels that he is not being challenged enough. The AP program will give me the
opportunity to show my abilities; what I can do. I have heard from friends, from
teachers, from my parents friends about how challenging the Advanced Placement
program is, how it provides me with a better education,and I want to see for myself
if I can live up to the expectations of the AP program. I want a head start in life by
getting the upper hand when applying for a respected university and a boost to my
high schooleducation. Attending the AP program would offer me all of these
opportunities, especially with the university level courses that this program offers....
I was chosen as the lead drummer for the Rock Band club, participating in many
different events such as the Christmas fair and the March fair. In addition, I was
also involved in the instrumental band, taking the role of one of the leading
clarinets. I also contributed to my school s athletic events. I participated in many
intramurals: volleyball, football, dodgeball, floor hockey, and more. I was able to
make a significant contribution to all the teams that I played on and lead some of the
teams to great success. My participation in the track and field activities was also
noteworthy, as I was able to win multiple sprinting medals.
I am also heavily invested in making my school the best that it can be, made
especially evident by my participation in money raising events and various clubs. I
am an active participant in all of my school s events, actively taking part in the
many fundraisers being held as well as events to boost school spirit. I participated in
