My presentation Think about your students Think about the ways you teach Be familiar with some web 2.0 tools associated with ELT (hands-on demonstration) Break time Your exploration Learn to explore Personal Learning Network Learn to use web 2.0 tools related to ELT (hands-on operation) Plan a language lesson involving web 2.0 technologies (brief lesson plan) How can we become resourceful?

Why do the students learn English? What is in common among the students? What do they want in foreign language classrooms?
Do your students need to enhance learning motivation when it comes to language learning? 10 Inspirational Quotes for Language Learners Why don’t you all select one quote you agree on? E.g. Learning another language opens our minds and can lead to unforeseen opportunities. Why learn languages?
prefer processing pictures, sounds, and video before text. prefer to interact/network simultaneously with many others prefer learning that is relevant, instantly useful and fun (partly cited from Jukes & Dosaj, 2003)

Food for thought: Watch the YouTube video They need a change in the way they can learn English differently. How do you teach creatively?
How would you approach your teaching? E.g., how do you preview vocabulary? Elicitation: What is the meaning of this word? Using pictures: supported by Quizlet (idea from busyteachers.org), e.g. Food & Drinks
Hands-on demonstration
What is ELT 2.0? ELT 2.0= ELT + Web 2.0 Web 2.0 technology and L2 learning Web 2.0 tools support collaborative and individual text and multimedia production. (Sykes, et al., 2008)
To improve students’ learning motivation To meet students’ learning needs To support student-centered learning

Learners should be exposed to comprehensible input (enhanced input). Learners should be provided with the opportunity to interact with the computer as well as other people. Learners should be provided with the opportunity to produce the target language.
Pre-production stage (Level 1): choosing technology that supports text with images such as photos, graphs or charts. Early production (Level 2): choosing ITs that promote vocabulary, grammar, and listening acquisition such as exercise builders, as well as digital stories, audio podcasts and online videos (YouTube)
Intermediate fluency stage (level 3): Using ITs that promote speaking, reading and writing skills The speech emergent stage (level 4): Using websites that combine multiple links to e-communication tools, e-listening tools, e-creation tools, and e-assessment tools Erben, Ban, & Castaneda, 2009

  • #19: Welcome Back to School (http://www.gigglepoetry.com/)     by Kenn Nesbitt         “ Dear students, the summer has ended. The school year at last has begun. But this year is totally different. I promise we’ll only have fun. “ We won’t study any mathematics, and recess will last all day long. Instead of the Pledge of Allegiance, we’ll belt out a rock ’n’ roll song. “ We’ll only play games in the classroom. You’re welcome to bring in your toys. It’s okay to run in the hallways. It’s great if you make lots of noise. “ For homework, you’ll play your Nintendo. You’ll have to watch lots of TV. For field trips we’ll go to the movies and get lots of candy for free. “ The lunchroom will only serve chocolate and Triple-Fudge Sundaes Supreme.” Yes, that’s what I heard from my teacher before I woke up from my dream.
