 In March 2010 - CNN announced that for a few
  weeks Facebook edged out google as the most
   visited site and its users account for over 35%
                 of the internet market

    Steamboat friends for networking.

   National brand - so potential customers

     *NOTES feature for importing blogs
     *TWEET feature for tweeting FB posts
USE SPARINGLY - NOBODY WANTS TO TALK TO A
             PREPROGRAMMED ROBOT

   Broadcast with Balance
    yes you should broadcast your message, but be
    sure to BALANCE your sales messages with
    useful information, tips, funny tidbits etc. This is
    not a megaphone for your sales pitch, but an
    opportunity to engage with your current and
    potential clients
Connect & Communicate


This is the whole point of social media - to
connect with others and communicate which
is why (in my humble opinion) the C’s of the
ABC’s in social media are the most important
takeaway from this presentation.
Personal Page, Fan Page or
    Group, Oh my?
   Personal profiles are supposed to be personal, not
    business - limit to 5000 friends. Having more than
    one account on FB is a huge violation of TOS and you
    can get your account shut down.

   Fan Page (Business Page) - you can have several
    PAGES related to your personal profile. It is the
    best spot for a business to promote on FB - unlimited
    fans, same layout as a personal profile. Status
    updates indexed and spidered by google, And Posts
    show up in fans’ feeds (groups do not), pages can be
    seen by non FB users and non logged in users.
Who will LIKE me?
   Get a vanity url:
    www.facebook.com/lizzielarock
    www.facebook.com/oldtownpubsteamboat. GET YOURS @:
    http://www.facebook.com/username/
    You need to have at least 25 fans to get a vanity url
    for your business page.

    Include it in your marketing materials, put a fb
    badge on your website, a LIKE button on your blog
    posts, add it to your email signature. Find the
    badges, widgets, share buttons here:

    OFFLINE and 4 Walls Marketing Uses:
    use the vanity url in your store, in a printed
    newsletter. radio ads, newspaper ads, in your
    bathroom stalls.
Add the LIKE button
FAN BOX WIDGETS
Use FB Comments for blog posts, articles etc.
People don’t have to re-register for your site, so
they’re more likely to comment, comments show up
on their profile if the post comment box is checked.

   You can send your FB updates to your twitter
    account (I think it’s better than the reverse)
   Use Steamboat in your post or #Steamboat so that
    your posts are searchable on twitter as relevant to
    Steamboat.
   If you go over 140 characters, a link is provided to
    your FB fan page - leveraging your page and your
    post and getting you more fan page exposure.

Why should I post, when should I
post, what should I post?
   Remember it’s a cocktail party - start a conversation or join
    a conversation. This is not a place for overt interruptive
    (push) marketing.
   Engage, delight, entertain! Make your posts fun, include
    links, photos, videos, events going on. If you’re using your
    personal profile for business be sure that only 10% of your
    posts are about your business, 90% about you.
   Be keyword relevant, fan pages are indexed by google, if
    you send posts to twitter, use a search hashtag (e.g.
    #steamboat)
   Spread the love, tag people in your posts (type @and start
    typing name - drop down menu will let you select who you are
    tagging & make the link live to their FB profile or business
    page, tag business pages in your posts, tag your photos.
   Post when your target market is most likely on FB -
    mornings, after work, lunch hour etc. Share content from
    your business page to your personal page to increase exposure
    - but do it at different times to not clog someone’s feed with the
    same content.

       YES these ads cost money, but they
        are so targeted and can be VERY
        inexpensive.
       You can target your ad by: Location, Age,
          Gender,Keywords, Education, Workplace,
          Relationship Status, Relationship Interests,
          Languages
         So if you are a Steamboat wedding planner,
          florist, photographer or caterer, you could
          create a targeted ad about your services to
          engaged women aged 25-35 who live in
          Steamboat. You can cap your spending & limit
          the time it runs.
