The YWCA of the City of New York held its first annual Potential to Power Girls Symposium on June 2nd. Over 150 teenage girls and 50 influential women attended the event to discuss issues of gender and racial equity in New York City. The day included youth keynote speeches from teenage girls, panel discussions between teenage and college-aged women, and discussions between the girls and influential women guests. The energy and discussions at the event were moving and inspiring for all attendees, and helped the teenage girls realize they were not alone in discussing issues of gender equity.
