- 7. 7 The simplest and safest way to manage your feed NIR Mosaic is a network system based on a central network database. Any operations such as calibra- tion updates are recorded centrally so that they can be used again and again. For instance, it is a great way of getting a number of instruments to all work the same, each one giving exactly the same results across the board. The central database also helps to make data freely available. For instance, if you are a manager in the USA and need to look into the performance of an instrument in Brazil, you do not need to think about an operator being at the other end of the line to pull out results and send them. You can just log on to your Mosaic client and go to the instrument concerned to get a record of all the test results. You can see all the samples, make reports, export the results and so on. Another important aspect of the Mosaic central database is to do with data safety. With Mosaic, customers are put on the central database so if something happens locally, the data is still available by synchronising with the Mosaic database.
