Feedback is a mechanism, process or signal that is looped back to control a system within itself.
Feedback refers to messages or information that is sent back to the source from where the message
came.

It also refers to degree to which carrying out activities required by job results in the individual’s
obtaining direct and clear information about the effectiveness of his/her performance.

Types of Feedback

Positive Feedback

What is positive feedback?

It is a clearly identified and appropriate acknowledgement of a job well done, a consistently high
standard of performance over a period of time or a contribution to the team “above and beyond
the call of duty”

When should I apply positive feedback?

As with all team skills when you are sure it is appropriate – inappropriate praise can be as
damaging to your colleague and the team as no praise at all.

Key Point

Positive feedback is a very powerful team management skill and used correctly it can work
wonders for individual and team spirit. Sometimes the simple courtesies and phrases like “thank
you”, “well done,” “that looks good” are the most effective.




Negative feedback

negative feedback often provides a realistic perspective of how other people perceive what it is you are
doing, making or sharing.

Negative feedback is a normal issue in daily activities especially in an organization that dealing with
people. But, is it good? The answer is 'Yes' to some extend because it can act as an opportunity for
improvement and 'No' if the negative feedback is not valid and genuine which would create disharmony
among the people in the organization.
Negative feedback is related to their customer services. If taken it positively, the organization should
now be able to identify, investigate and took that feedback as a guideline for their investigation.
Negative feedback is one of those rare things that will tend to be honest.
