Fibre Trace Development Update
- 1. Fibre Trace Ltd development objectives and update May/June 2015 • Updating the original code base to allow the new user interface to slot onto the top. This user interface will initially be standalone, i.e. it will work on a standard PC • By using 'interfaces' in the code we will be able to separate the parts more easily and get them to work more independently. This will also allow the components to be tested independently. • At present the “Physics Engine” and the “Business Level” (component definitions) have more internal links than we would like, to the original Visio (physical drawing) user interface, and to each other. • Visio will be replaced by the new user interface. • The “Business Level” components will be separated out making them more independent, which will make the development of the user interface and addition of new components simpler. • The “Physics Engine” will be separated out enabling any new functions to be added, and tested. • Time scale for the above is approximately 3 to 5 months, with the development of the new user interface going on in parallel. • The Physics Engine has been re-factored and approximately one third of the Business level component has also been re-factored. This is the prelude to introducing the interfaces mentioned above. We are now reaching the point where linking with a new project, would be ideal. Enabling any new components and functions to be programmed in and tested with the new interface.
