The U@MARENOSTRUM project facilitates online dialogue between citizens and officials in Greece and Spain on water protection and management in the Mediterranean. It involves collaborative platforms for each region that provide forums, maps, petitions, surveys, and a way to contact officials. The project aims to engage citizens in environmental decision-making and advance the use of eParticipation to empower citizens to debate and participate in implementing EU environmental legislation. Over 1,800 users registered with the platforms, posting arguments, marking maps, signing petitions, taking surveys, and contacting officials. Lessons learned include adjusting tools to specific needs, supporting adoption through marketing, and ensuring responsiveness from policymakers.
