Workaholism is defined as an obsessive-compulsive disorder characterized by an inability to regulate work habits and the exclusion of normal life activities, similar to alcoholism. It is progressive in nature and can lead to an unmanageable life and cause family disintegration by making spouses and children feel neglected. While workaholism and alcoholism share some behavioral patterns and effects, workaholism's family has nothing external to blame for the condition other than the person's obsessive compulsions.
