“The Necklace”youcannotcreate a playlistforanyotherstory,nor couldyou write areflectionfor“The Necklace”
because youhave alreadyusedthe storyforanotherproject.
All writingswillbe typedinclassandsubmitteddigitally.Yourwritingprojectswill all be typedinMicrosoftwordand
turnedintoyourclass folder(directionstocome later).Youwill be givensometime inclasstoworkon draftsof your
projects,butyouwill mostlikelyneedtowrite athome inorderto be preparedtomake the mostof our 3 dayswith
computers.Youwill onlybe given3days totype and submityourproject,if yourequire more time totype thenwe can
make arrangementsforworkingafterschool.

Potential Projects:
1) “IfI were…” Character Reflection: Choose one of the characters from the short storieswe have read to“be”
and write whatyouwould doif you were thatcharacter. Your reflectionmustbe ahalf page typedandsingle
spaced.Be sure to explainwhatyouwoulddoandwhy;remembertobe consistentwiththe time periodand
constraintsof the story (forexample,thisisnotanacceptable response:If Iwere Rainsford,Iwouldjustuse my
cell phone tocall the FBIor CIA so thattheycouldcome getme and lock thiscrazy Zaroff up!)
2) Poem/Rap: Write a poemor rap songthat summarizes one of the shortstoriesorfocusesonone particular
character fromone of the stories.Yourrap or poemmust be at least10 lineslongbutnomore than20. You are
not requiredtorhyme,butyoumustkeepyouwordchoice school appropriate.
3) Ode to a Character: Write an Ode to a character or objectfrom one of the stories. An“Ode” isa poem
dedicatedtothatpersonor object. You couldfocuson theiractionsordialogue fromjustone pointinthe story,
or theircharacterizationasa whole. Theyare usuallytitled“Ode toa _________” or “Ode for_____.”

blatantlyunhelpful.EventhoughHaymitchismeantohisTributes,he doesseemlikeaprettyfunnyguy.
He likestoenjoyhimself andthe luxuriesthatthe Capitol provideshimasawinnerof the Hunger
Games.I thinkhe would find“Blame itonthe Alcohol”to be a funnysongand one that remindshimof

5) Horoscope: Make a horoscope forthe maincharacter explaininghis/hersignandhis/herfuture.Be sure touse

6) The prequel:Tell whatyouthinkhappenedbefore the storybegan.Youcanactuallywrite a prequel orjusta
half page- full page typedexplanationof whathappenedbefore the storywe readbegan.
7) Create a Test: Developyourowntest overthe bookfora classmate. Include multiple choice,true/false,
matching,short-answeressay,fill-in-the-blank. Yourtestmusthave a minimumof 13 questionsputnomore
than 25. Make sure to include the answerkey!
8) Text Message Activity:Create a textmessage historyfora character that wouldhave happenedduringthe
story. Who wouldtextthe character& whatwouldtheysay?How wouldthe characterrespond?Yourtext
historymusthave a minimumof 10 messages.Youmustalsoinclude aparagraphlongexplanationof the text
conversationdetailingwhenthe conversationwouldhave takenplace inthe storyandwhythe two characters
wouldbe havingthisconversation.
