- 2. Proposal Title Child Abuse Background From time to time, Malaysia was shocked by cases of abuse and child abuse resulting in death. Even though it persists for a long time, cases of child abuse were not affected, and sometimes being ignored by the community who take the attitude of 'do not want to busy with other things’. Problem Identification The cases of child abuse including neglect are increasing People are not aware enough how serious this problem can be and how it can bring a bad impact in the future People are not educated enough to detect if the abuse occur to the child or not Aim and Objectives To create more awareness to the community about child abuse To educate people about child abuse and how to prevent it Stop the abuse that is occurring
- 3. Proposal (cont.) Motivation My life’s experience, I encounter some people who has been abused before but didn’t know how to face it or help them. Research & Analysis In terms of types of abuse, the statistics that come out by the Social Welfare Department of Malaysia showed the number of cases involving the neglect of children is highest during the years 2002 to 2007. This was followed by cases of sexual and physical abuse. The number of abuse over a period of seven years of abuse statistics continue to increase dramatically every year.
- 5. Have you ever been a victim of child abuse? In this survey, 81.25% never been a victim of abuse during their childhood but 18.75% have been abused before and still in abused Do you know anyone, currently or in the past, involved in child abuse? About 37.50% know someone who has been the victim of abuse. 56.25% never encounter one and 6.25% are not sure about it
- 6. Did you go through counseling after the abuse became known? About 12.5% , the victim went to the counseling for treatment but 25% didn’t go for counseling Do you believe the counseling helped you deal with the abuse and move on? Only 12.5%, the victim say it did help a bit but other 12.5% say the counseling didn’t help them much and 6.25% doesn’t sure about it
- 7. Did you find that the abuse changed you for the worse? About 12.5%, the victim say the abuse did change them to worse and it effect on their life. The 25% didn’t think the abuse changed them at all. The other 12.5% refuse to let the abuse effect on them and able control them

Contextual Studies Historical context Mary Ellen Wilson, was the first case of child abuse that caught public attention in the United States occurred in 1874 Etta Angell Wheeler, a social worker or church worker in New York City, discovered the girl, who was beaten and starved by her foster parents, the Connellys Though the situation appalled her, there were no laws in the city, state, or country protecting children from the abuse; the police said they couldn't do anything because it was a "family matter" Cultural context Child abuse had been going on since very long time ago It can happen to anyone regardless race, gender, status, religion, etc

- 20. Final Synopsis ‘ Killing the Future’ is an interactive information about Child Abuse. Child Abuse can be defined as intended or unintended harm to a child by adults and happens in all cultural, ethnic, and income groups. Abuse may cause serious injury to the child and even can result to death. From this interactive information, people will gain more knowledge and understanding about child abuse. Hopefully people will learn to stop the abuse that is occurring and make sure it won’t continue happen again in the future
