- 1. Markets rally 1% ahead of Infy results, IIP data Market Summary 11-Oct-2012 Markets opened flat with Nifty above 5660. In the early morning, indices touched the day's low and were seen struggling for direction. Markets smartly recovered in the afternoon session on reform hopes and positive European cues with the Nifty surpassing 5700 mark again. The key benchmarks eventually ended the day with about 0.9-1% gains. Markets will take cues from Infosys earnings and IIP data to be released tomorrow for direction from here on. IndusInd bank gained 1.92% (BSE) on reporting 30% growth in Q2 Net Profit. (Result) Tata Steel gained 2.34% (BSE) on plan to invest in new manufacturing facilities in Netherlands. (News) Unitech jumped 17.5% (BSE) on resolving disputes with Telenor. (News) Continuing with reforms, Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) on Thursday agreed to hike the prices of urea-based fertilizers by Rs 50 per tonne, thereby reducing government’s fertilizer subsidy bill, estimated to touch Rs 65,000 crore this fiscal year. Fertilizer stocks were mostly in green today. (News) The market breadth on the BSE closed in positive. Advancing and declining stocks were 1651 and 1152 respectively, while 131 scrips remained unmoved. The BSE Sensex ended at 18804.75, up 173.65 points or 0.93%. The 30 share index touched a high and a low of 18847.81 and 18581.49 respectively. 26 stocks advanced against 4 declining ones on the benchmark index. The S&P CNX Nifty gained 55.90 points or 0.99% to settle at 5708.05. The index touched high and low of 5721.10 and 5636.95 respectively. 39 stocks advanced against 11 declining ones on the index. Sensex Nifty The BSE Mid-cap index moved up to 6671.27 and gained 1.16% while Small-cap index jumped up by 0.84% to 7107.66. The broader BSE 500 index increased to 7241.41 (up 1.02%) and S&P CNX 500 index rose to 4523.60 (up 1.03%). The volatility as denoted by INDIA VIX lost 2.02% at 16.49 from its previous close of 16.83 on Wednesday. Sectors in action On the BSE Sectorial front, Real Estate (up 4.61%), Capital Goods (up 2.04%) and Metals (up 1.61%) were the top gainers. Healthcare (down 0.13%) was the top loser. The Angels and the Devils Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (up 2.39%), Larsen And Toubro Limited (up 2.25%), Tata Motors Limited (up 2.22%), Tata Steel Limited (up 2.11%) and Bharti Airtel Limited (up 2.06%) were the top gainers on the Sensex. Cipla Limited (down 1.97%), Wipro Limited (down 0.79%), Maruti Suzuki India Limited (down 0.36%) and Mahindra and Mahindra Limited (down 0.16%) were the top losers on the Sensex. Benchmark Drivers Larsen And Toubro Limited (23.82 points), HDFC Bank (19.90 points), ITC Limited (18.57 points), Infosys Limited (14.96 points) and State Bank of India (14.93 points) were the major Sensex drivers today. On the other end Larsen And Toubro Limited (6.06 points), Infosys Limited (4.25 points), ITC Limited (4.11 points), State Bank of India (3.95 points) and HDFC Bank (3.91 points) were the major Nifty movers today. Pivot, Supports and Resistance Levels S&P CNX Nifty is now pivoted at 5689 for next session. The next support is at 5656 and on upside it has a resistance at 5740 levels.
