This document is a dissertation submitted by Gary Brogan in partial fulfillment of the requirements for a BSc in Business Technology at the University of the West of Scotland. The dissertation explores the gamification of business intelligence tools and the effect on user engagement. It begins with an introduction that outlines the aims and objectives, research methodology, and scope. It then presents a literature review on business intelligence, user engagement with BI tools, and gamification. The dissertation used a mixed methodology of quantitative and qualitative research to study the effects of a prototype gamified BI tool called Project GamBIT on user engagement.
