WHAT IS FLIPKART
Flipkart.com is an Indian electronic commerce company based in Bengaluru, India.
Founded by Sachin Bansal and Binny Bansal in October 2007, the company initially focused
on book sales, before expanding into other product categories such as consumer electronics,
fashion, and lifestyle products.
ABOUT FOUNDERS
Sachin Bansal was (Ex. CEO Flipkart) born and raised in Chandigarh.
He graduated from Indian Institute of Technology Delhi in 2003 with a
degree in computer science engineering. In 2006, he joined
Amazon.com as a senior software engineer. Even though he originally
wanted to be a professional gamer, soon he and Binny Bansal , left
Amazon to start Flipkart.
Binny Bansal is from Chandigarh and graduated from the Indian Institute
of Technology Delhi with a degree in computer science and engineering.
He joined Amazon.com for 9 month. In 2007 he co-founded the e-
commerce platform Flipkart with Sachin Bansal and was serving as
the chief operating officer.

Morgan Stanley Investment Management, and a new investor, Singapore sovereign-wealth
fund.
 FY (2015-16) - US$550 million from some of its existing investors
 FY (2016-17) - US$11.6 billion, including eBay, Microsoft, and Tencent. On 10 August
2017, Softbank Vision Fund invested another US$2.5 billion in Flipkart.
