2. Introduction
➢ FM is widely used in communication systems.
➢ This circuit is designed to implement the signal modulation and demodulation
process. The modulation and demodulation of the signal plays an important role
in the communication system.
➢ The design uses MATLAB integrated environment M files to prepare the formula in
order to achieve FM modulation and demodulation process.
➢ In radio communication, Frequency modulation (FM) is the method of conveying
information over a carrier wave by varying its frequency.
➢ Today simulation is an important domain which attracts many researchers from
several fields and disciplines

Simulating modulation &
demodulation techniques in MATLAB
Modulation is widely used as it
improves the quality of reception
and transmission, increases the
range of communication, reduces
the antenna dimensions, and less
interference from other signals.

Modelling and Simulation of Frequency
Modulated Radio Channel Using Matlab
and Simulink
This research presents a step
by step approach in modelling
and simulation of Frequency
Modulated (FM) radio channel
using MATLAB and
SIMULINK. The results
obtained from the simulated
models prove the capability of
MATLAB and SIMULINK as a
tool for adequately predicting
performance and behaviour.
5. Modulation
And
Demodulation
Modulation is the process of
converting data into
electrical signals.
Demodulation is getting the
original form of data
modulated carrier wave.
6. Working
➢ At the transmitting end of the communication
system, the spectrum of the baseband signal is
shifted (modulated) into the frequency range
suitable for channel transmission. This is the
process of modulation.
➢ After the signal is transmitted through the
channel, the receiving end with the signal
amplification and inverse conversion function
moves (demodulates) the modulated signal to
the original frequency range. This is the
demodulation process.
9. Conclusion
➢ In this research, we have demonstrated the basic utility of MATLAB as a modeling
and simulation tool using modulation/demodulation methods as case studies.
➢ We carried out this study in the context of a FM modulated channel. MATLAB have
got rich libraries and built-in functions that can be used to ease the whole
modeling process.
