MORALITY
Section	1:	A	review	of	progress	and	achievement	through	parts	1	&	2	of	the	course
(Approx	150	words)
Throughout the pathway stages of the course I have gained a better understanding
of documenting my work through my sketchbook work and blog work. I have learnt
how to formulate story, how to write a script in the correct format and using subtext
in my scripts. I have also gained skills such as animation and rotoscoping, and
building a soundtrack. I have chosen the film pathway as I have enjoyed creating a
film diegesis and characters within.
Section	2:	Project	Concept	(approx	250	words)
I plan to produce a script, based on the theme of morality; pushing yourself to the
limits of your own moral compass, which I will develop into a short film and the
surrounding advertising campaign of the short film. This idea developed from my
recent jury service for the Hatton Garden Heist case, and found it interesting, it was
like seeing into the lives of other people and to me it was very surreal to imagine that
anyone would commit a crime, which has lead me to explore the theme of morality –
specifically and extension of my own thoughts of when or why I would break the law.
I will begin my research by looking into the robbery of Hatton Garden Safety Deposit
and similar robberies; Millennium Dome Raid and The Great Train Robbery. I will
read books that detail the robberies, as well as watching the documentaries and
films made about the robberies. My story will follow two characters placed in a
situation where they are forced to make a hard moral decision concerning
committing a robbery or crime.
I plan to make the characters young, as it will relate more to my age group. I find the
struggles of young people and the learning curve of their own moral compass very
engaging, as I am able to relate to this. For research I will also look at the upcoming
exhibition; ‘The Crime Museum Uncovered’ (Museum of London). I also plan to read
Killer by Charlie Seiga.
My specific role in the group will consist of the pre-production – screenwriting and
making storyboards – planning for the production schedule in the shoot and the
cinematography of the film.
Section	3:	Evaluation	(approx	100	words)
To evaluate my work I will; make tutors and classmates read my scripts, use test
screenings to a variety of audiences and interview the audience for their feedback. I
will use crits in class as a use of feedback to make improvements. I will also upload
my drafts and animatics to social media websites to gain a wider variety of audience
as well as showing them in class to get a wider range of feedback. I will use my blog
to help reflect on my work and record my progression through this brief, the blog will
also help me stick to my brief and the aims I wish to achieve in this project.
