CD/DVD DigiPak Front Cover Font Placement Tests
This is the original font placement that I detailed in the basic plans. Whilst it works fine there are several reasons why I have chosen to change the placement. Firstly, albums often have stickers in the bottom corners detailing things such as what tracks are on the album. Therefore this placement may not be the most appropriate as the text may become covered by said stickers. This placement also leaves a great deal of blank space above it. N.B. I have chosen to make the artist name larger than the album name as this is the convention of existing products. Font Placement 1
This font placement corrects the issue of the stickers covering the font. However, it still leaves blank space below it. This would look better if the space was on either side.Font Placement 2
As a test I have taken Font Placement 2 and changed the justification so, instead of being aligned to the right, it fits around the shape of the guitarist. Whilst in theory this would draw more attention to the guitarist, it does not look as visually effective as Font 2. It also does not correct the problem of space.Font Placement 3
Whilst this addresses the problem of space, I do not think it looks as well placed as some of the other fonts. If I was to choose this placement I would possibly need to resize the fonts in order for them to fit better which may detract from their visibility. It may also make the distinction between the larger artist name and the smaller album name less obvious. Font Placement 4
This font placement corrects all this issues with the original placement. Firstly, there is space for any stickers at the bottom of the page and secondly the spaces on either side of the text are more equalised. I also think that the deliberate placement of the text against the wall only, instead of over the grass, is more effective as it seems to be part of the scene. This is my chosen font placement.Font Placement 5
