This document summarizes research on geographic variation in populations of the tiger beetle Cicindela obsoleta in the United States. The author examined over 1,400 museum specimens and confirmed that four subspecies are present based on differences in elytral markings: C. o. obsoleta, C. o. santaclarae, C. o. vulturina, and C. o. neojuvenilis. Geographic distribution maps created using GIS software show that C. o. obsoleta and C. o. santaclarae overlap extensively, with some intermediate specimens, while C. o. vulturina and C. o. neojuvenilis are largely separate.
