How/why star wars was created
Summary: from what I take from this article, the main
purpose and the original idea behind Star Wars was not
just to entertain kids, it was to get them to think of a
bigger picture, to get them to want to explore space and
beyond earth.
The fact that various studious turned them down when
initially coming up with the ideas for Star Wars now seems
crazy, as it I pretty much the most profitable franchise by
far, and all of the film have been a commercial success,
leading to Disney buying the Star Wars rights in 2012, as it
is such a bankable brand.
Quotes- “Lucas struggled to reign in his space epic.”- B.
Myint (2015) the story at first was pretty wacky, being
much more sci-fi than what the final product was.
“final budget was $11 million, the film grossed over $513
million worldwide during its original release”- B.Myint
(2015) the film made more than 46 times its original
budget.

Star Wars Themes
This is from a Youtube video titled: Hidden Meaning of Star Wars Ep.4: A New Hope – Earthling Cinema. This is a video in a
long running serious where the character in the video (Garyx Wormuloid) analyses the themes and the hidden meaning
behind some of pop culture favourite movies.
Summary- the main theme behind Star Wars, especially n a New Hope is faith, we learn about the force from Obi-Wan
Kenobi and Luke has to then put his faith and his trust into the force when attacking the bad guys, the Empire. The Empire
puts their faith into technology such as the Death Star, killing millions in the process and being a very black and white
almost cartoonish villain.
Quotes “the force requires faith, a human concept necessitated by crippling mental insufficiencies”- Garyx Wormuloid
(2015).

Summary: this article suggests that Star Wars is in
itself a reflection of our fears as a society. The
original films were made in a time after the two
world wars, where people were afraid of a
tryannical empire taking over the world, not caring
about who they kill, this is shown in the similarities
between the Empire and the Nazi regime. The
modern films have a different approach to fear.
Whilst there is still the huge empire that wants to
take over the galaxy, in the First Order (this is still
the sci fi genre after all), the main villain, Kylo Ren
is the representation of modern day fear. As a
society, especially in the West, we arent as afraid of
big regimes taking over the world so much as we
were 50 years ago. People today aren't afraid of the
Hitlers of the world, they are afraid of the angry
young person who treats Hitler as their hero. This is
shown in the new Star Wars films as Kylo Ren
looking up to Darth Vader and the destruction that
he brought to the galaxy. This shows that Star Wars
is a commentary on the fears that we hold as a
society.
Quotes- “The first six Star Wars films showed how a democratic
Republic may, through fear and the threat of war, devolve into a
tyrannical Empire in order to preserve “a safe and secure society.”

Star Wars FansStar Wars has one of the biggest and most passionate
fanbases in the industry. Having a film series spanning
over 40 years means that there are Star Wars fans of all
ages.
Summary: in this article, the author explains why he
doesn’t like Star Wars as this passion for the franchise
can often turn sour. It puts him off from the franchise as
he feels that people are way too connected tot eh
franchise s they grew up with it and it influenced their
life massively.
Quotes: “Star Wars fans, like all diehard nerds, are an
intense bunch of folks for whom the films, television
shows, and books are more than mere entertainment.”
“Star Wars has the odd ability to bring out a kind of
feverish fanaticism in people.”
