3D maps offer an immediate perception of an area, with a clear understanding of relief, slope, aspect and visibility gis on3d map  highlights GIS data on the 3D map surface using video projectors  gis on3d map syncronizes image and video presentations with GIS data projection CCCGeomática uses 3D maps produced by Solid Terrain Modeling Inc.
What is required to put a gis on3d map system to work? A 3D map A GIS database A gis on3d map client One or more video projectors  The gis on3d map software Hardware with as many graphic outputs as required video projectors and multimedia channels
GIS Database Video  Projector   1º – We need: A 3D map A GIS database One (or more) video projectors 2 º  –  A client which sends a drawing request to gis on3d map  3 º  –  gis on3d map   renders and projects the GIS data on the 3D map surface

gis on3d map clients Clients send projection requests to the gis on3d map controler Clients are developed using the gis on3d map API GIS clients , VisualSIG and ArcGIS 10, are used to explore the system ad-hoc GIS clients  are used to capture gis on3d map projection commands for later use with the other clients The  Powerpoint client  shows slides on a multimedia display and sends projection commands, either automatically or user controlled gis on3d map   projection commands are captured into commands text files using the GIS clients
gis on3d map clients Multimedia clients  are used for public interaction Projections are generally made using command text files previously captured with a GIS client Multimedia clients  use the gis on3d map API to issue command requests to the system gis on3d map API requests can be integrated into any Dot Net and OCX compatible application mm on3d map  is an optional  multimedia client  developed by CCCGeomática, which requires no programming skills  With  mm on3d map , thematic contents organized into folders and files, are automatically seen as a menu structure INI files are used to define application behaviors for each folder and file
gis on3d map Architecture There is no limit to the number of projectors that can be used with  gis on3d map Clients  submit drawing requests to the system Controller  dispatches and synchronizes client requests Calibrator  is used to configure and calibrate the system  Displays  control the graphic outputs used by the system for 3D map projection (P) or multimedia (M)
Controller and Display Windows The Controller window echoes configuration, licensing and client requests The Display window has a tab for each Display output  and echoes display configuration and drawing errors
Calibration Map Windows are used to define how the 3D map surface will be divided among video projectors Calibration points are used to match projector coordinates (targets) with terrain coordinates (calibration points), and obtain a 3D projection solution (pose) The number of video projectors needed will depend on 3D map size, projector resolution and aspect ratio, and required projected pixel size
