The path for a global connection
We come from different countries and cultures but I believe that we
all share a common vision in the digital media and entertainment
business.
And that common vision is not to become distant observers in the
advances (both technological and creative) in communication and
information but to become active partitipants in the global ICT proccess.
In a global enviroment that is changing the task in not only to record
the information or create the technology and share it with others, but to
communicate the information throught technology in an effective way
that reaches beyond the boundaries in all scopes.
The path for global connection was laid many centuries ago by
Aristotle. Taking into account an adaptation of his “Physic's and the Four
Causes” we can create the framework for the proccess.
What are the Four Causes that could stimulate the co-operation between
countries in the present day ICT fields?
1.First, Material : The technological support from advanced countries.
2.Second, Efficient : Considering the particularrity of each country.
3.Third, Formal : Exchange on a country/ government state.
4.Fourth, Final : Throught human interests, preferences and values which
can influence the final interpretation of results.
Looking at the world around us, in a multicultural audience with
different cultural backgrounds the task might seem difficult, yet again this
is the challenge and the obstracle to overcome and more important the
best way to close or bridge any possible gap.
It only takes a leap of faith and trust.
We live in the age of information and communication yet, there are
issues still unsolved. Issues like economy, ethnic boundaries, prohibitions
and technological limitations. We have achieved the spread of
information in a global way but if the economy is weak and people cannot
affort the access on internet because survival is more important than
communication or information then we have achieved nothing. Slower
economies or financial crisis situations lead to technological drawbacks
than eventually end on limited access to information and communication.
Yet in the 21st
Century we still struggling to maintain peace, we are trying
to overcome ethnic boundaries because in some form there is human
aggression still lurking within. We need first to overcome our limited
possibilities as humans and living beings so we can devote our energy to
connect in a true global form people from all nations and races.
This is why i believe that we must strengthen regional networks to
connect in a global system of information exchange so information is not
controlled by a monopoly but is effective spread on globall recipients.
The communication in general is inclined to be self-referential and the
same goes for information. To prevent information from becoming a self-
referential system we need to use an eco-policy of distribution. That
means the creation of multiple regional networks that each of them will
be possible to become the main broadcaster for smaller areas. And here
comes the main role of peripheral networks. Through this eco-policy we
can manage a better referencial cross check system for the news
gathering and also achive higher standard form credibility. We do not
disintegrate the absolute power of the huge networks, but work with
them to distribute their information in distant areas or even when it finds
a way to approch these areas the quality of the information might be
different from its origins and its authenticity. Often the quality and
autenticity of information depends on the importance that this specific
information has for the reciever. The regional news is more important for
the people of the regions than other people. So, if the regional network is
strong enough to produce its own news that means that the information
keeps its importance and its authentic character. Think of dropping a
stone in a lake. The fallen stone creates waves around the spot where the
stone fell. These waves are getting weaker and weaker as they move away
from the spot. The stone is like a huge network that runs in a
concentrating way. The waves are the information. As long as the
information stays close to the concentrating network is strong and vivid
but as it moves away it becomes weak and loses its authenticity.
If we all want a success story in the global ICT spectrum we must work
close in both ends.
We need low cost yet high end technology so people in countries
who luck the economic means to have access on ICT products.
We need an on going education for those proffecionals who
specialize in the related industries. And that is connected also with
economy
We need to overcome our regional or local limitations and expand
globally to exchange information so that we all understand that the
butterfly effect on information and communication connects us globally.
