Globalization involves the movement of commerce, culture and influence across international borders. While population growth in developing countries like Kenya presents challenges for them, it is not a major burden globally because Kenyans consume far less than Americans - about 1/32 the resources. If Chinese consumption rates rose to match current American levels, it would roughly double global consumption of oil and metals. However, globalization could be sustainable if all countries converged to substantially lower consumption rates than the highest current levels. The unsustainability of American consumption rates means they will have to decrease, whether willingly or not.
