High end consumer cameras can capture over 12 million pixels. Some professional cameras support over 16 million pixels or 20 million pixels for large-format cameras.

There are 2 ways to display an image, on screen and in print. When you are preparing image sit is important that you know what resolution you need to scan or size the pictures to. The standard resolution for print is 300 PPI The standard resolution for screen displays is 72 ppi Picture quality also depends on how big the sensor is The larger the pixel size, the more light can fall in the sensor making the light measurement more accurate and less diffraction which is important as it causes blur.
