The Gilmanton Land Trust is leading a campaign to permanently protect 86 acres of land across 4 tracts to preserve scenic views, agricultural land, water access and wildlife habitat for public use and education. The $1.17 million campaign goal will purchase the land and cover transaction costs, with $531,750 secured from a federal grant and $284,250 hoped to be raised from 160 local households. The land will be protected with conservation easements and some tracts will be sold to private parties or the town, with an endowment to replace lost tax revenue. Volunteers are invited to help complete the community-driven campaign to preserve the essence of Gilmanton for all to enjoy forever.
