quests to increase completion of initiatives.

Summary: Game Mechanics Used
Grades of Green Forum
The Grades of Green Forum, similar to a city in most Role-Playing
Games, is where players:
Earn new titles on the forum
● Gather information
through:
● Collaborate
● Interact
● Reputation points
● Create meaningful discussions. ● Posts
● Upvotes
Gamification Level 2:
I Challenge You to Create the Next Bottle Bank Arcade
Boost Your

Upvote your reputation
through the Q&A subforum,
quests, and challenges.
Green Initiatives
The non-profit GOG creates calls for action through it’s green
initiatives. Green initiatives can be lengthy and intimidating,
especially to those new to environmental awareness. Quests fix
this problem, breaking larger initiatives into more manageable
pieces.
Quests

Would you rather be asked to reduce your trash
consumption or start a grand adventure, increasing
your positive environmental impact one quest at a
time? Quests allow users to have a clear goal to
complete, while engaging them in a fun experience.
Quests
As players move
through the Grades
of Green quests,
they will level up,
giving them access
to new privileges
and quests, as well
as titles on the
Green Forum!
These levels reward
players with titles
like Green Guru,
Environmental
Socialite, and Trash
Talker.

How to level up:
● Collect enough
reputation
points.
● Receive
upvotes on the
green forum.
● Complete
Green
Challenges.
● Register
schools.
Impact: On the front page of the Grades of Green website, a
counter records the amount of hypothetical trees saved by all of
the Grades of Green schools and students.
Summary
My gamification system aims to
create a more collaborative
environment for Grades of
Green and increase completion
of Grades of Green’s various
initiatives.
I identified Grades of Green’s
support base as a combination
of Socializers and Achievers.
