The Gonzalez Cancer Diet
Presented by: Katie Monk
Brief Diet Description by
Katie Monk
Gonzalez Cancer Diet: This regime is more than just a diet; it is a treatment plan for those
who are affected by pancreatic cancer, and wish to seek alternative treatments other than
chemotherapy. The Dr. Nick Gonzalez’s cancer diet regime’s primary focus is on
extending the life of pancreatic cancer patients in three main ways:
1) An organic diet that is uniquely and specifically tailored to each patient based on
their needs and stage of cancer. The diet may range anywhere to a strict vegetarian diet
consisting of at least 70% raw fruits and vegetables per meal to 3 servings of red meat per
day. While each patient’s meal plan differs, each patient must consume organic foods as
much as possible and avoid processed, synthetic, and refined foods such as white flour,
white sugar, and boxed meals. The purpose of the diet is to detoxify the body and the
belief is that you are what you eat and tumors feed on the foods that are toxic for your
body. Patients are also prescribed anywhere from 80-160 additional nutritional
supplements per day which include, but are not limited to vitamins, minerals, and herbs.
2) Detoxifying procedures, specifically coffee enemas up to five times per day.
3) Up to 45 grams of pancreatic enzymes derived from pigs spread throughout the day.
It is believed that the pancreatic enzymes are the main anti-cancer agent in this regime.

Consensus Statement
The Gonzalez cancer diet is not a diet at all, but a treatment plan for patients with pancreatic cancer.
The meal plan varies from patient to patient; however, raw, healthy, organic foods are encouraged.
This diet is extremely strict about what you can eat and each patient is prescribed their own meal plan
based on their stage of cancer and what their body needs. However, portion sizes do not seem to be
limited considering it is mainly raw fruits and vegetables that are to be consumed. Overall, the diet
portion of this treatment plan appears to be very beneficial or the patient. Patients are also required to
take additional nutritional supplements as well as pancreatic enzymes before, or between each meal.
Also, they must perform coffee enemas between meals to further encourage their liver to detoxify the
body. Due to the additional supplementation of up to 160 different vitamins, herbs, and minerals, the
patient is more likely to have an overabundance of certain vitamins and minerals, especially fat soluble
ones that will not be flushed away by the body. This could be potentially dangerous for the patient.
Also, the coffee enemas may have some serious side effects if they are done improperly or too often. It
is not something that I would recommend.
Overall, this diet does promote extremely healthy eating habits; however, it is extremely restrictive and
quite expensive once you take in the cost of the additional nutritional supplements into consideration,
which is around $800.00 per month according to Dr. Gonzalez. However, Dr. Gonzalez does point out
that his treatment plan is significantly lower than the cost of chemotherapy. This regime is not
regulated by the FDA and there have been a limited number of clinical trials to determine its efficacy.
