The Association for Consumer Effectiveness has proposed a grant of at least $500,000 to combat the practices of data brokers through education, advocacy, and the establishment of consumer protection standards. The initiative aims to raise awareness among consumers about their rights regarding the handling of personal data and to implement the Consumer Fairness and Transparency Index to assess data broker practices. This funding will allow the association to expand its resources and offer tools for consumers to make informed decisions about their personal information in the digital economy.
