"a graphics software
In addition to static graphics, there are
animation and video editing softwares as well.
Graphics software refers
to a program or collection
of programs that enables a
person to manipulate
images or models visually
on a device.
SOFTWARE:
Data, the set of programs and other
operating information used by a
computer
GRAPHICS:
visual images or designs on some
surface, such as a wall, canvas,
screen, paper, or stone to inform,
illustrate, or entertain.
3D Modeling and CAD (computer-aided design) software is
also graphics software, but these are very specialized
applications which are best covered under the respective
topics for the industries in which they are used.
For example, 3D graphics software is often used in
animation, and CAD software is often used in architecture
and engineering.
3D MODELLING
CAD
Types of Graphics Software
There are TWO MAIN CATEGORIES of GRAPHICS SOFTWARES,
1. Rastor Graphics,
2. Vector Graphics.
• Also called BITMAP
• Represents a rectangular or Square
composition of PIXELS
RASTOR
• use 2D point to represent images,
• Each of these points has a definite position
on the x- and y-axes of the work plane
VECTOR
The smiley face in the
top left corner is a
raster image. When
enlarged, individual
pixels appear as
squares. Zooming in
further, they can be
analyzed, with their
colors constructed by
adding the values for
red, green and blue.
May have
properties,
including such
values as stroke
color, shape, curve,
thickness, and fill.
Examples:
Some of the graphics
software titles include:
• ADOBE Photoshop
• The google photos
• ADOBE Illustrator
• Paint Shop Pro
• Picasa
• and many more.
ALREADY
What Isn’t Graphics Software?
You don't use it for directly manipulating images.
• Page layout software such as InDesign,
• Presentation software such as PowerPoint or Apple Keynote.
INDESIGN
PowerPoin
t
• Editing and sharing digital
photos,
• Creating logos,
• Drawing and modifying
clip art,
• Creating digital fine art,
• Creating web graphics,
• Designing advertisements
AND product packaging,
• Touching up scanned
photos,
• Drawing maps or other
diagrams.
In fact practically
everything
you see on paper
or a screen has
been touched
by Graphics
Software.
ADVANTAGES:
Disadvantages:
o Time consuming to construct
o Audiences may lose focus by diverting the attention to flashy graphics
o Makes the data worse or misleading by not telling the whole story

• However, you do need a Google account in
order to use this service
Photoshop is the leading professional
image editing program, now attributed to
‘Adobe’. Photoshop is useful for both
creating and editing images to be used
in print or online. Easy to use but full of
high quality features.
WHAT IS PHOTOSHOP?
o photo restoration and
manipulation
oWorking colors and
shapes
INTRODUCTION:
oWorking with
text
oWorking with graphics
and images
CREATION OF PHOTOSHOP:
Photoshop was developed in
1987 by Americans brothers
Thomas and John Knolls who sold
distribution license to adobe
system incorporated in 1998.
ADVANTAGES:
• Most of the edits regularly done on the photos can be completed with a single click.
• It is possible to clear up the blemishes and the imperfections in the photos ,
• You can remove and change the backgrounds in the photos .
• New artwork images can be created and edited .
• It is very easy to begin editing the photos ,
• Helps you to reduce the red eye or to whiten the teeth,
• You can adjust the skin tones of people in your pictures.
DISADVANTAGES:
• Adobe Photoshop requires a well-equipped computer , It is a
heavyweight program and many of the tools are
computationally intensive , It takes up a large space of room on
your computer as well as RAM memory.
• Adobe Photoshop is relatively simple to use but it is not a
program designed for the beginners. There are many different
tools that do very different things , so , You will take long
time to learn how to use each one correctly .
Cost:
• Adobe Photoshop is not free and is relatively expensive.
• When compared with other photo-editing software, It has so many features
and You will spend much more for Adobe Photoshop, If you do not plan on
editing the photos every day .
USING PHOTOSHOP:
The menu
bar consists
of nine
menus: File,
Edit, Image,
Layer, Select,
Filter,
View, Window,
and Help.
The Toolbox
The toolbox contains
many of the tools you
will be working with in
Photoshop. This
contains tools for
working with images in
Photoshop.
LAYERS:
UNDERSTANDING LAYERS:
1) Paintbrush Symbol-This symbol (and the blue shading of the
layer) notes the currently active layer
2) Show / Hide Layer-When the eye icon is visible, the layer is
displayed in your project. If the eye is clicked, then the layer is
hidden but not deleted.
3) Link Icon- Indicates if the layer is currently linked to another
layer.
4) Background-The Background is technically not a layer,
however, it can be edited. It is the bottom-most portion of the
image.
5) Layer-Each layer has its own name (default is by numbering).
Click a layer’s name to edit on that layer.
6) Text Layer-Adding text creates a new text-specific layer.
What are all
these
options in
the
layers
window?
Creating an Image Archive
• Be sure to maintain the original file.
• • It is best to create your graphics files in PSD whenever
possible.
• Then save the file as a JPEG or GIF format for web publishing
COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS:
Photoshop was
originally used primarily
for editing images, while
Google Photos was
used almost exclusively
as an online location for
storing photos.
P H O T O S H O P G O O G L E P H O T O S
Expand their Photoshop cloud
presence, acquired AVIARY services,
re-labeling these new offering as part of
the Photoshop family.

S O W H O I S T H E f u t u r e ?
For those looking to edit and manipulate images, Photoshop remains the kind
of the hill. For online file sharing and file storage, Google Photos is the clear
winner. If you only have limited needs for editing, such as removing red-eye or
lightening an image that is under-exposed, the controls of Google Photos may be
sufficient for your needs. With free unlimited online storage along with a free app, the
Google Photos tools are difficult to pass-up. Even serious Photoshop users are likely
to find themselves using the free tools from Google when the full power of Photoshop
isn’t needed.

Editor's Notes

  • #9: Pixel  is a physical point in a raster image, or the smallest addressable element in an all points addressable display device; so it is the smallest controllable element of a picture represented on the screen Hamari pictures - RASTOR Vector graphics are commonly used for logos, illustrations, technical drawings and for use with processes that require vector art such as specialty signs and printing, engraving and etching. Also used in CAD, Engineering, and 3D graphics.
  • #10: Illustrator is the only vector software
  • #11: Why these are not graphics? Cox they don’t directly manipulate images. POWERPOINT just involves pictures but it is basically for presentations while INDESIGN is for designing POSTERS, PAMPHLETS, though it works with graphics but not solely for editing or manipulation processes.
  • #16: GIVE THE REAL-LIFE EXAMPLE: kisi bhi occasion ki pictures shared by family members in just one single place, Changing phones, don’t have to whatsapp or Bluetooth all photos.
  • #17: A petabyte (PB) is 1015 bytes of data, 1,000 terabytes (TB) or 1,000,000 gigabytes (GB).
  • #18: Cloud service is any service or resources made available to users via a network (internet) from a cloud computing provider’s servers (ex: Apple in regards to iCloud)
  • #27: Thomas knoll a PhD student at university of Michigan, begin writing a program on his Macintosh plus to display Gray scale image on a monochrome display. This program called display, caught the attention of his brother Jhon knoll, an industrial light and magic employee, who recommended that Thomas turn it into a full fledged- image editing program. Thomas took a 6 month break from his studies to collaborate with his brother on program. Later Thomas renamed its program PHOTOSHOP. During this time John travelled to “silicon valley” and gave demonstration of a program to engineers at APPLE and Russel brown, art director at ADOBE. Both showings were successful and ADOBE decided to purchase the license to distribute in september 1998.
  • #31: Click the "Start" menu and go to the "Programs" folder. You will see an "Adobe" folder with "Photoshop" inside; click this icon.
  • #34: One of Photoshop’s most powerful features is the ability to create and use multiple layers within the same image. A layer is literally what it sounds like: one layer on top of another, all of which can be edited independently of each other and laid on top of or beneath one another, and then later combined to form a single, flat image When linked, layers act “locked” together (and will move with each other, accordingly), but still remain separate layers. Layers can be linked together by selecting one layer, and then clicking the boxes in the other layers to display the “Link” icon (number three on the above list and image).
  • #36: PSD: Photoshop’s native file forma
  • #37:  Adobe acquired online photo editing service Aviary, which provides cloud-based image editing tools primarily to other companies that integrate image editing into their apps.
