This document is a thesis submitted by Michael R. Griswold to the Graduate Faculty of the University of Toledo in partial fulfillment of the requirements for a Master of Arts Degree in Geography and Planning. The thesis examines the potential for community schools to catalyze broader neighborhood revitalization initiatives. It uses Robinson Elementary School in Toledo, Ohio as a case study to assess how its recent transition to a community hub model has impacted the surrounding community and to explore opportunities to advance additional neighborhood-focused initiatives. The thesis utilizes literature reviews, surveys, and focus groups with community members and hub staff to evaluate the impacts and opportunities associated with the community school model.
