Handling of ICT tools
The most commonly available ICT tools for transfer of technology in agriculture in Indian context are :
1. Radio
2. Television

Radio
 Radio is mass media of communication and
can reach a large number of people at any
given time information, extension worker use
the radio for communicating information on
new methods and technique, giving timely
information about control of pest and
diseases, new verity and market etc. News.
 The radio informs the farmers through its
programmers like krishi jagat, chaopal, and
various other programmes by regional
services. In gujarat especially programme
broadcasted are; gamno choro, gram

In gujarat , following programmes were available for
farming communities :
Television:
 Television is the most powerful media close to
the rural masses. In transfer of technology
process..
 Since 1967, Krishi Darshan, or Agriculture
Television, a 30 minute show produced by the
state-run network has been keeping India’s vast
flock of farmers up to date with the farming
practices, the potency of seed varieties and ways
to enrich soil to get the most out of the ground.
 In this program we will show agriculture related programs
from Indian villages. This is pre recorded program. Our T.V.
programmes will conduct information from villages, there
problems, solution will discussed in this program we will
conduct information of farmers from villages for broad
casting, information about crops.
 Show prices of agriculture foods, products from all over India,
market give the suggestion to farmers where to sell agri
products in market weather information.
Benefit :
 From this T.V.Channel all farmers in India get benefited. They
will learn how to do high tech farming, high tech dairy firm.
How to use better seeds, how to manage profitable farming.
Farmers get weather related information. All prices of agri
produces from all over the India using this information they
will get good prices for agriculture products.

 The Ministry of Agriculture launched Kisan call
Center scheme on 21st January, 2004 to provide
agricultural information to the farming
community through toll free telephone lines. A
country wide common four digit number '1551'
has been allocated for KCC. The replies to the
querist of the farming community are being
given through fourteen KCCs in 21 local
languages covering all states and union
territories. Calls are attended from 6:00 am to
10:00 pm on all 7 days of the week.
Printed Media
 Printed media is one of the major of mass
communication. This media has great potential in the
communication process for quick transfer of
technology. The primed media includes news papers,
magazines, journals
 The scheme of Use of Print Media in Technology
Transfer is being implemented through 31
State/Central Agricultural Universities by contracting
2-3 major daily local newspapers to bring out regular
weekly/fortnightly columns on current agricultural
new practices in regional languages.
Video
 Video is another ICT tool for generating and
promoting interaction. Experiments with
small format videotape have recently
aroused the interest of farmers in developing
countries. Videotapes are seen as an ideal
media to promote motivation, attitudinal
change, behaviour community participation
and entertainment. Videotapes have
tremendous utility in the training of
extension personnel.
Mobiles
 Provide of agricultural information. Deliver
information relevant to farmers, such as
agricultural techniques, commodity prices
and weather forecasts, where traditional
methods of communication are limited.

Video conference
 Is the ability to hold meetings using special equipment
such as webcams, high-speed Internet connectivity and a
personal computer. With VC, those who participate in
the meeting can see, hear and speak to one another,
regardless of their geographical location in real time.
 The main concept is to connect the joint directors at the
district level to the state level through video
conferencing. This will help in reducing time in
communication, cut down on traveling and enhance a
fast decision making process.
Internet
A global computer network providing a variety of information and
communication facilities, consisting of interconnected networks
using standardized communication protocols.
Use and function :
 School should create a website
 Students can get useful information from the website
 Other useful online tips and website can be display in the
website
 Online Forum by the website- Fun et educational tool
E-mail
 E-mail (electronic mail) is the exchange of
computer-stored messages by
telecommunication. However, you can also send
non-text files, such as graphic images and sound
files, as attachments sent in binary streams. E-
mail was one of the first uses of the Internet and
is still the most popular use. A large percentage
of the total traffic over the Internet is e-mail. E-
mail can also be exchanged between online
service provider users and in networks other
than the Internet, both public and private.
