/v/ Paragraph (from Medically Speaking RULES)

Victor Vargas, a seventy-seven year old male, was very nervous when he arrived at the
Emergency Room on the evening of November 12th. He had vomited several times,
voided an average of five times an hour, and complained of waves of nausea, dry
heaves, blurry vision, and loss of voice. He was very worried that he had a viral infection
and had never before experienced this level of discomfort. However, his vital signs were
within normal limits and these symptoms were not consistent with DTs. Mr. Vargas had
been avoiding alcohol over the past few months. He verified that he was a heavy drinker
and had suffered severe liver damage. His symptoms did not improve over the next
several hours and he was admitted to a private room on the eleventh floor of the Vaughn
Pavilion for observation. (45)
