The Preatorian Guard
Introduction
Their name alone invokes many vivid images; from heroic men clad in Roman red iron to bloody
battlefields, where they stand disciplined and ordered while chaos reigns all around, and even of the
quiet corridors of the Emperors palace, where a change in power and leadership is only a blade thrust
away. These fierce and hardy men formed the iconic symbol of the Ancient Roman Army: the
Praetorian Guard. Rigid and unwavering, these soldiers were the bodyguards of the most powerful
men in the ancient world: The Emperors of Rome.
Formally created in 23 BC by Gaius Julius Caesar Augustus the Praetorian Guard Served as
Bodyguards for the Emperors, About nine cohorts of five hundred men each formed the early

Tiberius Claudius Drusus was a man suffering from ill health and an alarming lack of social skills,
because of this even his grandfather Gaius Julius Caesar Augustus was ashamed of him and wanted
him to be supervised at all times. However...I would not find it disagreeable if for him to preside over
the priests dinner party during the Games of Mars if he allows his kinsman, Silvanus son, to be by him
( Marsh 49)
In 41AD the crowds, even with their hated for the past tyrannical emperors came out into the street
and started to chant Claudius name. They did this because despite all that has been done to them in the
past years have grown accustomed to a single ruler that prevented civil wars and protected them from
outside foes. The Senate under the weight of the people buckled and announced Claudius emperor.
Due to the fact that Claudius was proclaimed emperor on the initiative of the Praetorian Guard instead
of the Senate, Claudius reputation suffered. Moreover, he was the first Emperor who resorted to
bribery as a means to secure army loyalty. He gave a bounty of 150 gold pieces to each of the soldiers
and in doing so set a precedent; the bounty became common practice and finally the office of emperor
was literally put up for auction (Marsh 52).
But Claudius soon showed the empire that he was neither weak nor stupid as he quickly reestablished
his reputation His first act showed a wisdom belying his reputation. He declared

Timber Shortages In The 1770s
This essay deals with the three shortages of masts and timber in the 1770s, 1803, and 1808, and
considers how the navy dealt with these shortages. In the War of American Independence and the
Napoleonic Wars, the Royal Navy often faced the risk of the shortages of these goods. In the second
half of the eighteenth century, Britain gained the maritime supremacy in the Atlantic and the Indian
Ocean, and constructed many ships both for the navy and for the merchants. However, as Britain
could not produce the sufficient quantity of naval stores in her own country, Britain depended on the
import of naval stores from several areas. Masts from Norway, Russia, and New England, pitch and
tar from Carolina, iron from Sweden, and hemp from Russia greatly contributed to British naval
power in the long eighteenth century. The dependant position ... Show more content on

Although Albion s work is comprehensive and deals with the long term supply of woods, he pays little
attention to the contribution of the Baltic masts and timber for the navy in the War of American
Independence, as Knight points out. Knight, Gwyn, and Frost focus on the specific areas. Morriss pays
more attention to the European situation as he focuses on oak and hemp. Crimmin deals with the only
the early nineteenth century. Existing studies did not firmly draw a comparison of the measures
against the timber shortages and illustrate the relationship among the navy s attempts of the
procurement of masts and timber. This essay focuses on the continuity of the measures against timber
shortages and the effects of the procurement of masts and timber from one area on that from other
areas. These points allow us to understand the navy s view about the procurement of wood products in
wartime of the late eighteenth and the early nineteenth

It s best not to have anything lower than a C entering college in my opinion. Although it s a pass, it

which didn t end up so great on the record.
Science fascinates me, it makes me think and it makes me strive for a better future for all. I know so

The San Diego Trolley Dances
The San Diego Trolley Dances took place on October 3rd 2015. An assortment of dance pieces all
come together to furnish the city with dance in non traditional and often unexpected settings. A
program that has been established for fourteen years, the annual Trolley Dances traveled from
downtown San Diego to Balboa Park. However modern or classical the pieces may in Trolley Dances
appear to be, the combination of observation and research can provide a different perspective.
Africanist Aesthetics are principles in the qualities of African dance, as well as other African art
forms. The aesthetic of the cool is one of five Africanist Aesthetics. It embraces the principle of a
contrast between bodily movements and facial presentation and expression. This aesthetic also has a
large component of visual values; dancers are confident of their performance and offer themselves as
such. Three moments within the collection of pieces presented in Trolley Dances excellently embody
the Africanist Aesthetic of the aesthetic of the cool, in the penumbras of potential danger, physical
strain, and unexpected collisions.
A black submerged fountain floor was sprinkled with dancers at the Waterfront Park in San Diego.
The dark color scheme was contrasted by the ten dancers wearing black shirts and amethyst colored
galaxy print pants. With the absence of music, Stephan Koplowitz s dancers of the piece Play(as) ,

Comparing Pyramus And A Midsummer Night s Dream
Pyramus and Thisbe is the story of forbidden love. Pyramus and Thisbe talk through a hole in the wall
that separates them. After realizing that the hole was not enough to satisfy them they decide to run
away. Similarly, Shakespeare s A Midsummer Nights Dream tells the tale of Hermia and Lysander,
two lovers, who find themselves running away into a forest to have a happy ending in their love story.
Both stories are comparable for the reason of forbidden love but the outcomes of the stories
differentiate them. Forbidden love encourages the longing for love. Both Pyramus and Thisbe and A
Midsummer Nights Dream tell the tale of lovers who run away so that they can be together. Pyramus
and Thisbe were talking through the hole in the wall when

Descartes Teachings On Dualism
To understand how the dualist commits a category mistake, one must first understand Descartes
teachings on dualism from the Meditations on First Philosophy. Firstly, Descartes sees the mind as an
immaterial, non physical soul. He believes that his thoughts can be altered but he can never be tricked
into the thinking that he is thinking when he is not. While he has complete faith in the existence of his
mind, he doubts the existence of his body and the existence of other people s minds. The reason for his
doubt in his body is that he believes he can be tricked into perceiving himself as having a body when
he in fact does not. Descartes sees the mind as separate from the body and believes that the two are
composed of different kinds of substances, one being mental and the other being physical. He further
separates the mind from the body by claiming that because the mind has the property of being
undoubtable while the body has the property of being doubtable, the two cannot be the same thing.
According to Gilbert Ryle in his article Descartes Myth he sets out to prove that there is no distinction
between the body and the mind, that the existence of the mind is obvious, and that Descartes entire
theory is founded on unsound reasoning. Ryle claims that the substance dualist makes a category
mistake because they refer to the mind and the body as existing in two separate categories. He
explains that a category mistake represents the facts of mental life as if they

ranging from professional life to social life. More people are having access to the internet with time

the services that have experienced a surge because of improved quality and access to the internet.
Online video streaming from paid or free online channels are very popular among individuals, and

Uncertainty is associated with unpredictable outcomes while making transactions. When users are
unsure about successful subscription of online streaming, uncertainty occurs. For instance, there are
websites on internet that are fraud and once you make subscription for purchasing online content,
content never delivered to you and your invest mane lost. Uncertainty construct has three further
elements which uncertainty of service availability, uncertainty of content availability and media
quality. Another example is change in economic situation. Subscription rate tend to increase in future.
Sudden increase in price lead to high transaction costs. Therefore, uncertainty is positively related
with transaction cost. High level of uncertainty increases transactional cost. Similarly, buying
frequency reduces transaction costs and creates economies of transactions. Buying frequency is
exchange of goods and service. Increase in buying frequency reduces transactional cost. For instance,
frequent purchasing provides incentives to customers. Last factor is security, which is also negatively
associated with transaction cost. Security includes transaction security and personal informational
security. High level of security ensures low transactional cost. Customers have confidence on buying
content from online source and they do not require time and money to search for secure online source.

Isaiah 53 Essay
mission God has commissioned to the people due to their stubbornness. Thus, Israel was delivered up
to plunderers and robbers (42:22 25). This rebellious servant is in paradoxical relationship with the
ideal servant figure in 42:1 9, creating tension between them. The blind and deaf servant theme
continues in 43:1 13, introducing the task of the servant as God s witness. In spite of the fragility of
the servant, God still loves the servant Israel and wills to use the servant as his witness among the
nations (43:10, 12; 44:8).26 God s original purpose in choosing his servant is for the nations to
experience God s incomparable sovereign power and for his glory to be proclaimed among the
nations, but the servant keeps failing to faithfully accomplish the task. Nevertheless, God s
unconditional grace and the promise of redemption to his servant Israel are repeatedly declared in the
subsequent passage (43:22 44:23). This unit s uniqueness is the transformation of the descendants of
the servant through the outpouring of the Spirit upon them (44:3 5) and the forgiveness ... Show more

Historical critical scholars suggest that the identity of the servant is an anonymous contemporary of
Second Isaiah, Second Isaiah himself, a group (Israel, ideal Israel, a remnant), the Davidic messiah,
the king Jehoiachin (597 B.C.), the exiled people, and so on. However, the question of the identity of
the servant remains intractable among scholars. As Clines points out, there is an intentional opacity
about the text. Moreover, the highly poetic and rhetorical nature in the language of Isaiah 53 prevents
us from acquiring the precise historical information of the servant s identity. The questions concerning
the identity of the servant seem to be secondary in the movement of thought in 52:13 53:12. See David

Advertising and Experience Design Strategies
In the business world today, marketers have various options on how to promote and sell their products
and services. On top of the traditional methods of advertising such as print adverts and direct
marketing, today there is web based advertising, email advertising as well as many social media sites
such as Twitter, You tube, Linked In and Facebook. Businesses have now learn that traditional
methods of advertising are not as effective as they used to be. Marketers must realize that promotion
and communication have changed due to the Internet and technological advancement (Molan, 2011,
pp.34). Therefore, due to the existence of a range of advertising channels, marketing executives must
effectively manage the integrated marketing communications (IMC) to achieve desired results (Laric
Lynagh, 2010, pp.109). These IMC include the use of social media, experience design and advertising.
This paper analysis the IMC strategies of Dell Incorporation (Dell Inc.) in promoting and advertising
its products. The discussion will further analyze and compare Dell Inc. s strategies with that of its
major competitors. Dell recently entered the industry of tablets by launching its products Latitude 10
devices and XPS 10. The company had to go back to the drawing board and create effective marketing
strategies to introduce and create awareness of the

The Theory, Symbolic Interactionism, And Conflict Theory
Faith Williams Dr. Whitman Sociology Abstract This review connects three theoretical frameworks.
The first theoretical framework is the symbolic interactionism. This focuses mainly on how the
individual interacts with others, and how others influence the individual behaviors that impact society
in a micro or macro way. The second theoretical framework is the conflict theory, it examines the rift
between the rich and the poor and how it affects the quality of education, health care, and living
condition of said group. Thirdly, the functionalist theory, which compares society to a system of
interrelated parts, it s a social system not just an individual. Each frame work plays part in the issue
when an economy declines which causes many families to lose their jobs. Single mothers lose their
jobs and go into prostitution as a mean of support. CHAPTER I: INTRODUCTION In this review
there are three main paradigm: Functionalist theory, symbolic interactionist theory, and conflict theory.
The functionalist theory compares society to a system of interrelated parts. It looks at society more as
system not as an individual. Symbolic interactionism focuses on how the individual interacts with
others in a society and how others influences that individual; what impact does that have on a society.
Conflict theory examines the rift between the rich and the poor and how it affects the quality of
education, health care, and living condition of said group. In this review

Diversity Is The Equal Coexistence Of Diverse Cultures,...
Introduction In America, past and present, we are faced with many challenges pertaining to diversity.
Diversity is defined as the presence of human beings with perceived or actual differences based on a
variety of human characteristics (Koppelman 2014). A challenge of diversity faced is on American
Education. Education is most important because our future society depends on it and if we did not
have it our future would most certainly fail. Learning and schooling is critical for everyone to gain
knowledge and continue leading our diverse society forward into the right direction. Since diversity is
a common issue relating to students who have gone through these situations there have been many
intense debates and legal cases (Dey 2008). Education in America needs to have more pluralism,
where all diverse groups can have the same mutual respect. Pluralism is the equal coexistence of
diverse cultures, institutions, and/or individuals within mutually supportive relationship within the
boundaries of one nation (Koppelman 2009). In a pluralistic society all the groups in the society
should be taught about each other s diverse cultures, historical events, and so on in school so it can all
be fair. Some parents and teachers felt that there were no benefits for the students to learn about
multicultural education (Koppelman 2009). There are so many things that can be done to correct the
challenge of diversity to American education and so many reasons why there are challenges in

Concussion Frameworks For Concussions
There are enough concussion protocols to determine a concussion, but there are not enough protocols
for preventing concussions for Football Athletes. The SCAT5 Assessment Tool does provide beneficial
and accurate tests to determine concussions. The protocols for recovery and return to play are very
detailed and straightforward so there is no further damage or impairments to the brain. Although,
concussions are still happening at high rates, especially in football because they are not being fully
prevented, they are only being treated after they happen. The SCAT5 Assessment Tool, also known as
Sport Concussion Assessment Tool, is a variety of tests for athletes, given by an AT or physician, to
determine whether an athlete has a concussion. The SCAT5 Tool is made up of the On Field
Assessment and the Off Field Assessment . Some tests that make up the On Field Assessment are
determining any Red Flags or obvious signs of a concussion such as double vision, nausea, headache,
fogginess , and memory loss. This section is also made up of testing the athlete s memory, using the
Glasgow Coma Scale , and a Cervical Spine Assessment. The tests and sections that make up the Off
Field Assessment are the athletes general information and background information, evaluating the
athlete s symptoms and the severity of the symptoms, Cognitive Screenings, and Neurological
Screenings. When done correctly, the SCAT5 Assessment Tool is a very valuable tool to determine

A Brief Note On South Carolina Water Impairments
South Carolina water impairments continue to be a significant problem. Currently there are 330
impaired waters within South Carolina alone. Out of this list there are 15 mitigation projects in
progress under the Department of Environmental Health and Control. (DHEC) The scope of this
project was to see what, if any impact do droughts have on water impairments. My personal research
in conjunction with this project was to research if mitigation project work and what are some of the
shortcomings; what the different techniques are, and are they helping to help reduce impaired water.

over time. The task for our group was to visually show impaired waters on a map with an overlay of
the drought conditions at a certain time period. Results from the project were ambiguous. We were
able to show a statistical correlation between drought and water impairments. However, these results
were not always consistent due to the variation in the data. Impairment data is recorded every two
years; however, the exact time during that year and weather conditions at that moment the samples are

stations are located from year to year. Weather data on the other hand is taken on a daily basis from
consistent locations and drought data is compiled every month. Trying to merge or over lay these two
types of data proved to be difficult. Due to these issues it is import to point out that correlation does
not imply causation. Many other variables could affect water impairment at the time of a drought or

Importance of Recycling at the University Essay
Importance of Recycling at the University
I remember my first semester here at the University and the dark halls of the Bates House Residence
Hall. Many a party was concluded with an idea for what to do with the endless piles of cans that had
congregated on the floor. One idea, I remember, was to wall someone into his room and another was
to see how many we could stand on end without toppling. But, we usually just ended up throwing
them in the trashcans in our refuse room. Sometimes out of the five trashcans in the room set aside for
trash disposal, three or four would be completely filled with hundreds of cans of various beverages.
Upon further contemplation, I can also remember the small, blue bucket that was thrown ... Show

The truth is, however, that with the amount of money the University spends on other endeavors, it
cannot afford not to update its recycling campaign. The only way to do that is to help make recycling
appeal to more of the vast student population that currently attends our University. How might this be
done? The University already places a recycling bin in every dorm room around the campus; anything
more would exceed the current funding for the recycling project. Perhaps the institution of a recycling
center at the Russell House could cause the impulse to become a habit. But, that would take too much
money with the salaries of workers and the annexing of what would amount to a new wing of the
building to consider for too long. Another solution could be to have the students elect a recycling
committee to evaluate the problem and decide on the appropriate solution. However, I feel that with
the current lull in our recycling campaign, even that would be ineffective. As an altrenative to these
two solutions I propose that we, as students and faculty united, institute a plan that is so simple it is
already in place in many of the high schools around the state. I propose a system of rewards.
How many of us have walked past the Russell House only to hear the cry, Free T shirt for your

Franchising Is A Major Driver Of Business Development And...
Franchising
According to Hill, Jones, and Schilling (2015), franchising is a strategy in which the franchisor or the
founding company grants the franchisees, the purchasing company, the right to use the franchisor s
name, reputation, and business model in return for a franchise fee and often a percentage fee and often
a percentage of the profit. The business must operate under strict guidelines, follow the rules,
regulations, and standards given by the founding franchisors (Hill, et al 2015, p. 182). This creates a
business relationship between the two. According to Ribeiro, D., Akehurst, G. P. (2014) franchising
has become a major driver of business development and franchisor brand equity is a critical factor
with a clear impact on the perception and behavior of the franchise. Franchises brings together
independent companies and establish agreements between two parties.
Requirement to become a franchise
Hill, et al, (2015), states that typically, franchisees must adhere to some strict rules which governs how
to do business. The franchisor requires them to take the same basic business model and run in a certain
manner. They must have the same basic look, operate in a certain way, feel, offering, pricing and
business processes as other. The founding business assists the franchisee and typically receives a
percentage of the revenues (Hill, et al 2015, p. 182).

The Great Debate to Leave Home
Traversing lands unknown to one before has always been a subject of mystery, as these foreign sights
and wonders give way to many unexpected discoveries to the naïve mind. In any society, the idea of
travelling abroad is still taboo in most circles the ethnocentric ideals of most traditional cultures, while
not outright forbidding, but still do look down on the practice of leaving home with goals of success.
Whether it be religious thoughts of demons abroad or wanting to keep handy laborers at home, or any
other reason, there is always reason for those wanting to wanting to keep such virile young at home,
and they will often attempt to do so. Those leaving will give up their identity, but not in any kind of
negative way; as they grow, they will find themselves changed by time, as they embrace the new ideas
and rituals of their live in society. They may go home, but with the inward change and newfound
knowledge, they will not be able to see the world with their young eyes, as they once had.
Overcoming adversity is a manner of mending the word a bit and learning to adapt to any current
situation. Those leaving home are often met with adversity. At the age of eighteen, the Amish are
given a year to live abroad in the modern world. All apathetic novels about Native Americans aside,
the Amish youth are given a serious choice to consider while living out in the modern world. Both

Nostalgia Marketing
Nostalgia Marketing
The main purpose of this paper is to examine the existing literature and research that has been
developed regarding the use of nostalgia as a marketing strategy both in its use in advertisement as
well as in products that try to generate a nostalgic response in the customer. The main definitions and
causes of nostalgia will be examined and the applications that nostalgia can have to modern marketers.
The use of nostalgic motives has been increasing since the early nineties from the re introduction of
the mini cooper by BMW and the launch of the New beetle by Volkswagen, to the recent resurgence of
1980´s themes like Transformers and The A team, as well as the use of pop culture icons and old

these objects but that is a feeling or mood produced by the association of these objects with their past,
a relationship that other objects do not have and therefore they have a preference for the objects that
produce the nostalgic responses.
Research has been conducted to understand the motives of this nostalgic response to certain objects
and experiences, a study by Holak and Havlena (1992) tries to identify the most recurrent motives in

Essay on The Invisible Man s Identity
Upon opening Ralph Waldo Ellison s book The Invisible Man , one will discover the shocking story of
an unnamed African American and his lifelong struggle to find a place in the world. Recognizing the
truth within this fiction leads one to a fork in its reality; One road stating the narrators isolation is a
product of his own actions, the other naming the discriminatory views of the society as the
perpetrating force infringing upon his freedom. Constantly revolving around his own self destruction,
the narrator often settles in various locations that are less than strategic for a man of African American
background. To further address the question of the narrator s invisibility, it is important not only to
analyze what he sees in himself, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This distance seems to lessen as the narrator is introduced to the brotherhood, but this does not last for
long. Handed a new identity in order to maximize his protection, the narrator continues to walk away
from his true self. A new name, but a false name at that, the narrator continues to increase his sense of
invisibility. In due course, the narrator once again deals with the reality that he does not move by his
own accord. Exploited for evangelism, the narrator is left with the single option of leaving the
brotherhood. Once again he is left disposing of a fantasy that seemed tangible.
Holding a belief that opposes the advice his Grandfather once gave him, the narrator welcomes others
to exploit him. His Grandfather had once warned him of the tricks that the white would play, a sense
of trickery that the narrator becomes part of time and time again. For example, at the university he is
one of many African American males, but as he incorporates his own values into his work with Mr.
Norton he makes a huge mistake. The mistake itself being, bringing Mr. Norton to a a bar less than
suitable for a man of his color and standing. While at this bar he encounters a veteran who warns him
about Dr. Bledsoe and society as a whole. Dr. Bledsoe, an African American man with a role of
authority becomes intertwined with the fate of the narrator as misplaced trust is once again exploited.

Comparing Short Story The Monkey s Paw
In order to compare and contrast the short story The Monkey s Paw by W.W Jacobs and Ricky Lewis
Jr s film adaptation, one must think about all of the differences and similarities in both versions and
when comparing the short story and the film one similarity is how the paw got cursed, and one
difference is the ending because in the text nothing to Mr. and Mrs. White but in the film they die at
the end. In the text and film one similarity was the story of the paw and how it got cursed It has a spell

Sergeant Major Morris is introducing the paw to the Whites. The Whites are curious about the paw.

Dr. Henry
Tiffany,
Good post on defining environmental consciousness, you mentioned scientist and scholars alike
understands and in need of people who put more thought into how products are manufactured. You
gave good examples listed in your paper. You mentioned it is about having awareness of what an
individual is putting in the environment. I found that prior research indicates that people vary in levels
of environmental consciousness depending on their sociodemographic characteristics (Ying Chang

I agree the Internet is a great platform individuals are given to socialize and transfer information. It
has enhanced our environment worldwide. You mentioned a solider didn t have the accessible
resources to connect with he/she family, but in today s society that option is available for Skype to
visually connect over the internet. I found the internet of things has a major impact in our future of
mankind and on the daily life of the individuals, we are part of a world where everything has the
potential to be connected. As a matter of fact, it is estimated by garner that by 2020, the installed base
for the internet of things will exceed 212 billion and will be over 30 billion of connected things
(Hucanu Georgescu, 2016). The examples of the soldier, gospel, virtually around the world were great
examples that you incorporated in your paper. I agree it s important to protect the copyright laws. You
mentioned individual earning royalty for their music and it s important to ensure copyright with the
music. I found this to be true because Copyright in a song is different from many other works. Each
song holds two copyrights: a copyright in the sand recording and a copyright in the musical
composition (Conte, 2017). Fischer explains how we should follow rules and it shows respect. In
Matthew 7:12 (ERV) says, Do for others what you would want them to do for you . As it is so many

Western Honey Bee Essay
In recent years, many citizens have been pushing the idea that we need to save the bees, specifically
the western honey bee. Advocates for saving the bees spread information on social media. These posts
can show how to start a bee garden and list off the plants that would become extinct without honey
bees and claim that without honey bees agriculture in the United States would cease to exist. Others
have bees that say If we die, you die with us, and state that the ecosystem would fail without the
honey bee. But are either of these claims true?
Western honey bees are one of the many pollinators that inhabit North America. There are around four
thousand bee species native to North America, but the western honey bee is not one of them. The exact
etymology of the honey bee has always been a question. Entomologists first put the origin of the

These species include bees, such as the western honey bee, along with flies, beetles, moths, and
butterflies. Pollination, as far as honey bees are concerned, is a process where honey bees legs get
coated in pollen which they transfer from flower to flower to fertilize the plant. Plants rely on
pollinators to grow and produce offspring. Without pollination, many plants would die off and would
not be around the next growing season. Pollination is the sole reason the U.S. has as many fruits,
vegetables, and nuts that it does. The western honey bee is one of the many important pollinators that
have become a huge part of North American agriculture, but they might not be necessary.
Many industries rely in some way on the honey bee. Agriculture relies on the western honey bee for
pollination. Honey and beeswax are both byproducts of the honey bee. Even the western honey bee
itself has its own industry. In order to understand if the western honey bee is necessary to the U.S., it
is important just how influential the honey bee is in these

Hydrogen Concentration And Radioactive Isotopes
Distinguish between stable and radioactive isotopes and describe the conditions under which a nucleus
is unstable
Isotopes are atoms of the same element with different numbers of neutrons; BUT they have the same
number of protons.
In nuclear chemistry, isotopes are shown in the following form:
Chlorine 35 is written as 35Cl and Rubidium 85 is written as 85Rb
Isotopes can be divided in two categories, radioactive and stable.
Stable Isotopes are isotopes that are not radioactive. They have stable nuclei and pose no known
physiological skills
Radioactive Isotopes is when the atom is unstable, it will attempt to gain stability by emitting radiation
in one of the three main forms. A substance is radioactive when it emits this radiation. There are three
types of radiation: α (alpha), β (beta) and γ (gamma) radiation:
Alpha Decay: is made of helium nucleus (2 protons and 2 neutrons) that are ejected from unstable
large nuclei. Alpha radiation usually results when there are too many protons and neutrons in the
nucleus for it to be stable. For example, the decay of uranium 238: Beta Decay: is made up of
electrons ejected from an unstable nucleus (too may neutrons); but nuclei do not contain electrons.
Hence, the underlying reaction is the decomposition of a neutron: When neutron decomposes, it forms
an electron, which is immediately ejected as beta radiation, and a proton ( hydrogen nucleus ), which
is captured by the nucleus. Thus, the beta decay results in an

Summary Of Three Sovereigns For Sarah
The movie Three Sovereigns for Sarah is about a terrified town that is struck by the devils witchcraft
and takes extraordinarily inhuman actions to rid themselves of the bad fortune. The story is told by an
old woman who was accused of being a witch, but luckily lives long enough to confront her accusers.
Three Sovereigns for Sarah has many contributing factors as to why witchcraft was believed and used
as a genuine reason to murder citizens of the thirteen colonies such factors that lead to these absurd
and ridiculous decisions and actions are likely to be based off the early sexist concepts of gender roles
that took place in the colonies, the strong pull to uniform religious beliefs, and a superstition that

The religious beliefs of these days and ages were extremely strict, controlling, and very similar. The
priest in this movie was very influential, he was the sole reason for the belief in the witchcraft that
took over this town. Few males in charge made the decision to hang the Salem witches, but essentially
the priest made the overall decision. He fed stories to the other females and males about their
witchcraft and how the devils work had been done. It is believed that the priest did this so he could
control the land and money that was possessed by the women he wrongfully accused and murdered.
The early Colonists practiced Puritan religion. This religion consisted of believing that God had
formed an agreement with the Colonists. They claimed that they were higher than all others and God
made that known to them. They claimed that God wanted them to set a better example for all the
British people who were going to be damned to hell for all the sins and filth they had done. This
prompted the Colonists to live a very disciplined, unsatisfactory, and dull life.
A definite theory on why the Salem Witchcraft was so strongly believed involved how powerful
gender roles were. Although it is claimed in the Puritan ways that women were to be treated with
kindness and consideration, they were to be seen very little and never heard. Wives and

Analysis Of The Prologue By Anne Bradstreet
Tierra Nick
Professor Parker
ENG 202 01
5 October 2017
The Prologue By Anne Bradstreet
Anne Bradstreet s poem, The Prologue , is about the struggle of women in a Puritan Society. In the
Puritan Society, women are held to a certain standard. Women were not able to speak their mind,
openly show they were educated, or express themselves freely, because it was looked down on. The
Prologue , is titled to mark the beginning of her work. In this poem, Bradstreet acknowledges her role
as a woman in a Puritan society, but also makes a brave attempt to achieve freedom from the Puritan
Society. Bradstreet is on a mission to prove to the Puritan society that women are worthy enough to do
what men do. Bradstreet fights for feminism. Bradstreet begins her poem by acknowledging those
superior to her: To sing of wars, of captains, and of kings
Of cities founded, commonwealths begun For my mean pen are too superior things
Or how they all, or each their dates have run
Let poets and historians set these forth
My obscure lines shall not so dim their worth
(Bradstreet 1 6) In lines 1 6, she explains that she is aware of those who contributed to society,
because they have accomplished great things, things that she cannot take away from them. She states
she will not discuss them because her mean pen are too superior things (Bradstreet 3). Bradstreet uses
too to reference her work as being also superior. She wishes to leave it to them to talk about history
without criticizing their worth and the same should be done for her. She adds the word obscure
(Bradstreet 6), to acknowledge her lines are hidden using a form of symbolism. Symbolizing that most
women are hiding their truths. Her point goes into further detail in stanza 2.
Bradstreet begins stanza 2, But when my wond ring eyes and envious heart/Great Bartas sugared lines
do but read o er (Bradstreet 7 8). Bradstreet in some way degrades her poetry, just like the Puritan
society would do. She talks about another poet Barta. When she reads his poems they seem so great
and she envy s him. She also refers to Bartas work as sugared lines referring to his poetry as
pleasurable to read. She uses Barta (a male figure), to further clarify how she will not challenge the

Leadership Skills to Manage Diversity in the Military
Essay 5: How Do Leaders Manage Diversity In The Military?
Introduction
Given the proliferation of missions that often have multiple objectives aligned to counterterrorism,
humanitarian aid, and national defense, the alacrity at which the armed forces are expected to integrate
and quickly deliver results in a foreign nation is increasing. The cross cultural competency (3C) model
is designed as a foundation for streamlining the cultural assimilation process, providing leaders and
subordinates with a more efficient approach to quickly understanding and become effective in a
culture different than one s own (Abbe, Gulick, Herman, 2007). As the alacrity and intensity of
cultural assimilation is increasing across all branches of the military, combined with greater levels of
mission complexity and required collaboration of foreign governments and agencies, developing a
effective 3C model is essential for mission success. The intent of this analysis is to provide insights
into how leaders can manage diversity more effectively in the military, especially those called upon to
serve in cultures significantly different than one s own. Training in cross cultural competency often
includes references to the Hofstede Model of Cultural Dimensions and the specific attributes of
collectivism versus individuality, two potentially polarizing aspects of military leadership in foreign
regions (Goodman, 2012). The Hofstede Model of Cultural Dimensions is complimentary ot the 3C
Model in that is

Importance Of Curriculum For Excellence Essay
Curriculum for Excellence emphasises that all children are entitled to a learning experience where
they feel secure, accepted and valued as members of their class and school community. Learning
environments which have a positive influence on children, achieved by promoting inclusion and
equality, are essential to the Scottish curriculum (CfE, 2004). Getting It Right for Every Child (2007)
policy supports this. Their aspiration is for all children to be fully supported as they grow into
Successful Learners, Confident Individuals, Effective Contributors and Responsible Citizens.
Therefore, teachers and practitioners have a responsibility in ensuring children are nurtured, achieving
and included.
However, although many children gain the most they can from the learning opportunities that schools
provide, some will struggle to benefit fully from their learning experiences without additional help and
support (COP, 2010). The Education (Scotland) (Additional Support for Learning) Act 2004 (as

3. Is there a specific timeframe in which the problem occurs?
4. Is there a specific geographic location affected by the problem?
5. Why is the problem important? How does the problem affect stakeholders, governments, citizens,
and businesses (Ceptara, 2009)? A research question is an extension of the research problem. The
question focuses upon a specific area of the problem. Research questions must be worthy of the time
to investigate, and contribute information and significance to the field of study. The question must be
feasible, clear, significant, and ethical ( Writing Research Questions , 2009). The research question
usually requires additional supporting questions relating to specific areas of the study. The totality of
the supporting questions answers provides the conclusion to the primary research question.
Theory in Emergency Management A researcher enables different fields to become united by
incorporating knowledge into a study. Theory establishes common definitions for issues or
occurrences, so that a common understanding of the information can be shared without mis
interpretation.
Theory relates to the entire body of knowledge available in the given discipline. One of the major
purposes of theory is to clarify terms by providing sound academic definitions. One of the most
significant types of theories or theoretical components is an explanation of

The Wild West Of America
THE WILD WEST OF AMERICA The Wild West of America, or what historian referred to as the Old
West, since the 1800 s men and women all wanted to move to the west to start a new life, have land,
find gold and silver ,and to escape the law hence the Wild West. The West of the U.S. started off from
the west of the Mississippi all the way to the west coast. With all the open land and the people in the
west, legends and stories are being made throughout time, and these stories are for the future
generation to hear about the adventurous time of the Wild Wild West. From the beginning of time,
people have told stories of their adventures, survival, the crazy gunfights, and the danger they been
through in the west. Most of these stories and tales starts off at campfires, where is told to friends and
families about their experience. Sometimes these tales were true, others exaggerations, and
occasionally nothing more than some crazy tales which seems too good or too outrageous to be true.
The more interesting part of these tales were passed along from friends to friends and from one
generation to the next, and along the way the tales grows stronger to the point they became legends
and urban myths. With all the story tellings through the years, it becomes a small part of history and
then in popular culture. Where it turns into music, dance, movies, tv shows, and cultures. For two
centuries the Wild West was molded into the american s culture that transpire in popular
entertainment.

Gcse Film Techniques
The 2001 Baz Luhrmann Moulin Rouge production is assembled like a bunch frenzied snapshots of
what a drug induced erotic encounter would look like, or what we would imagine it would look like.
The film does not depend on dialogue but on the way you imagine a fantasy from one angle and then
another with all of extreme contrast between dark and light colors and the fast movement of the film.
Luhrman uses many different techniques to convey images to his viewers. Examples of these are mise
en scene, cinematography, and editing. All of these techniques are used to draw you into the film; the
uses of these together make a fantastic story about love.
Luhrman uses mise en scene to a great effect. A perfect example of this is in the first scene where we
are introduced into Christian s attic. We are shown Cristian being surrounded by papers, bottles,
clothes, dust and dirt, with his face down in his arms. The lighting on him is a saturated blue light and
the detail of the typewriter, his dirty appearance, even more empty ... Show more content on

This film was a lot to take in due to is very unconventional use of mise en scene, cinematography, and
most of all editing. I can honestly say that if I had not taken this film appreciation course, sadly I
would not have made it through the first 10 minutes of pure madness. Had I not been able to better
recognize the meaning or reasoning behind the editing style and use of artwork I would have been
uninterested. Now, with all of that being said the movie over all is a fantastic piece of artwork. From
the beginning scenes with the perfect use of illuminated blue lighting, to the use of cinematography to
really bring us into the character s perspective, to the creative use of hyper kinetic style editing to give
the feeling of freedom. It all comes together to really bring the audience a true feel of what the 1899
bohemian revolution would have been

An Inquiry Into The Nature And Causes Of The Wealth Of...
Management has not always been the way it is as of today. There were many people that warped and
shaped the ideals of management throughout history. A few of those people are Adam Smith, Henry
Fayol, Mary Parker Follett, and Henry Gantt. We see many of their principles and theories in modern
management techniques. I have personally seen their effects in my management experiences. Another
company that has great management ideals is Zappos.
The Industrial Revolution began around 1760. Shortly after in 1776 Adam Smith published his book,
An Inquiry into the Nature and Causes of the Wealth of Nations. This book affects the Industrial
Revolution, as well today s modern economics. Adam smith is known as, the father of economics.

I think this is a major reason why he felt so strongly that free trade benefits the market and everyone
for that matter. This concept applies today. For the most part, the United States trades with many
different countries. The trading helps make products much cheaper as well as production much higher
because people focus on what they re good at.
Although Adam is great there are others that have impacted the way business s run throughout history.
Some of them even have an impact on today s society. One of these people that had an impact on
management thought in history is Henry Fayol. An online article by The Mind Tools Editorial team
says that, Fayol, and others like him, are responsible for building the foundations of modern
management theory. Fayol had these fourteen principles of management; one of them being just like
Adam s ideas, the division of work. Another is the Unity of Command; this is Fayol s idea that
employees should have only one direct supervisor. Another two are Equity and Stability of Tenure of
Personnel. Equity is his concept that managers should be fair to staff at all times, both maintaining
discipline as necessary and acting with kindness where appropriate. Stability of Tenure of Personnel is
his principle that managers should try to keep employee turnover at a low rate. Although the last two
are considered common sense today,

Mythology In Japanese Mythology
Ancient civilizations have used various tactics, such as pictographs or writing systems, to document
important events. However, only few civilizations have actually used mythology to write about the
truth , one of them being the people of the ancient Japanese civilization. The truth is a representation
of how each civilization views the beginning of the world and how it affects the civilization today.
Although some parts of mythology seem outrageous and clearly not based on scientific fact, there are
evidences that prove some events mentioned within mythologies have actually happened seen in
present day Japan. Japanese mythologies have incorporated historical truth into their mythologies.
This is important because understanding the past allows for cultural development in the future. Chris
Kincaid, an accredited blogger on the Japan Powered website, states: Like all mythology, it was
considered factually true and Truth through most of history (1). This means that the purpose of the
mythologies, such as the Kojiki and Nihongi, was to report factual evidence while speculating how the
world came to be. The use of mythology was a mechanism used as a means to engage the common
man and help come up with explanations to things that were not proven by scientific fact. As long as
the essential focus is on the recording of the political policies of the mythologies, then everything
begins to align because of the apparent effects and evidences in the present day Japan. By connecting

The Preatorian Guard Introduction Their name alone invokes many vivid images; from heroic men clad in Roman red iron to bloody battlefields, where they stand disciplined and ordered while chaos reigns all around, and even of the quiet corridors of the Emperors palace, where a change in power and leadership is only a blade thrust away. These fierce and hardy men formed the iconic symbol of the Ancient Roman Army: the Praetorian Guard. Rigid and unwavering, these soldiers were the bodyguards of the most powerful men in the ancient world: The Emperors of Rome. Formally created in 23 BC by Gaius Julius Caesar Augustus the Praetorian Guard Served as Bodyguards for the Emperors, About nine cohorts of five hundred men each formed the early Praetorian Guard; they ... However...I would not find it disagreeable if for him to preside over the priests dinner party during the Games of Mars if he allows his kinsman, Silvanus son, to be by him ( Marsh 49) In 41AD the crowds, even with their hated for the past tyrannical emperors came out into the street and started to chant Claudius name. They did this because despite all that has been done to them in the past years have grown accustomed to a single ruler that prevented civil wars and protected them from outside foes. The Senate under the weight of the people buckled and announced Claudius emperor. Due to the fact that Claudius was proclaimed emperor on the initiative of the Praetorian Guard instead of the Senate, Claudius reputation suffered. Moreover, he was the first Emperor who resorted to bribery as a means to secure army loyalty. He gave a bounty of 150 gold pieces to each of the soldiers and in doing so set a precedent; the bounty became common practice and finally the office of emperor was literally put up for auction (Marsh 52). But Claudius soon showed the empire that he was neither weak nor stupid as he quickly reestablished his reputation His first act showed a wisdom belying his reputation. He declared ... In the War of American Independence and the Napoleonic Wars, the Royal Navy often faced the risk of the shortages of these goods. In the second half of the eighteenth century, Britain gained the maritime supremacy in the Atlantic and the Indian Ocean, and constructed many ships both for the navy and for the merchants. However, as Britain could not produce the sufficient quantity of naval stores in her own country, Britain depended on the import of naval stores from several areas. Masts from Norway, Russia, and New England, pitch and tar from Carolina, iron from Sweden, and hemp from Russia greatly contributed to British naval power in the long eighteenth century. The dependant position ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Existing studies did not firmly draw a comparison of the measures against the timber shortages and illustrate the relationship among the navy s attempts of the procurement of masts and timber. This essay focuses on the continuity of the measures against timber shortages and the effects of the procurement of masts and timber from one area on that from other areas. However modern or classical the pieces may in Trolley Dances appear to be, the combination of observation and research can provide a different perspective. Africanist Aesthetics are principles in the qualities of African dance, as well as other African art forms. The aesthetic of the cool is one of five Africanist Aesthetics. It embraces the principle of a contrast between bodily movements and facial presentation and expression. This aesthetic also has a large component of visual values; dancers are confident of their performance and offer themselves as such. • 8. Descartes Teachings On Dualism To understand how the dualist commits a category mistake, one must first understand Descartes teachings on dualism from the Meditations on First Philosophy. Firstly, Descartes sees the mind as an immaterial, non physical soul. He believes that his thoughts can be altered but he can never be tricked into the thinking that he is thinking when he is not. While he has complete faith in the existence of his mind, he doubts the existence of his body and the existence of other people s minds. The reason for his doubt in his body is that he believes he can be tricked into perceiving himself as having a body when he in fact does not. Descartes sees the mind as separate from the body and believes that the two are composed of different kinds of substances, one being mental and the other being physical. He further separates the mind from the body by claiming that because the mind has the property of being undoubtable while the body has the property of being doubtable, the two cannot be the same thing. According to Gilbert Ryle in his article Descartes Myth he sets out to prove that there is no distinction between the body and the mind, that the existence of the mind is obvious, and that Descartes entire theory is founded on unsound reasoning. Ryle claims that the substance dualist makes a category mistake because they refer to the mind and the body as existing in two separate categories. He explains that a category mistake represents the facts of mental life as if they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. Isaiah 53 Essay mission God has commissioned to the people due to their stubbornness. Thus, Israel was delivered up to plunderers and robbers (42:22 25). This rebellious servant is in paradoxical relationship with the ideal servant figure in 42:1 9, creating tension between them. The blind and deaf servant theme continues in 43:1 13, introducing the task of the servant as God s witness. In spite of the fragility of the servant, God still loves the servant Israel and wills to use the servant as his witness among the nations (43:10, 12; 44:8).26 God s original purpose in choosing his servant is for the nations to experience God s incomparable sovereign power and for his glory to be proclaimed among the nations, but the servant keeps failing to faithfully accomplish the task. Nevertheless, God s unconditional grace and the promise of redemption to his servant Israel are repeatedly declared in the subsequent passage (43:22 44:23). This unit s uniqueness is the transformation of the descendants of the servant through the outpouring of the Spirit upon them (44:3 5) and the forgiveness ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Historical critical scholars suggest that the identity of the servant is an anonymous contemporary of Second Isaiah, Second Isaiah himself, a group (Israel, ideal Israel, a remnant), the Davidic messiah, the king Jehoiachin (597 B.C.), the exiled people, and so on. However, the question of the identity of the servant remains intractable among scholars. As Clines points out, there is an intentional opacity about the text. Moreover, the highly poetic and rhetorical nature in the language of Isaiah 53 prevents us from acquiring the precise historical information of the servant s identity. The questions concerning the identity of the servant seem to be secondary in the movement of thought in 52:13 53:12. • 11. Advertising And Experience Design Strategies Advertising and Experience Design Strategies Ahmed Salman Argosy University October, 8, 2014 Advertising and Experience Design Strategies In the business world today, marketers have various options on how to promote and sell their products and services. On top of the traditional methods of advertising such as print adverts and direct marketing, today there is web based advertising, email advertising as well as many social media sites such as Twitter, You tube, Linked In and Facebook. Businesses have now learn that traditional methods of advertising are not as effective as they used to be. Marketers must realize that promotion and communication have changed due to the Internet and technological advancement (Molan, 2011, pp.34). Therefore, due to the existence of a range of advertising channels, marketing executives must effectively manage the integrated marketing communications (IMC) to achieve desired results (Laric Lynagh, 2010, pp.109). These IMC include the use of social media, experience design and advertising. This paper analysis the IMC strategies of Dell Incorporation (Dell Inc.) in promoting and advertising its products. • 12. The Theory, Symbolic Interactionism, And Conflict Theory Faith Williams Dr. Whitman Sociology Abstract This review connects three theoretical frameworks. The first theoretical framework is the symbolic interactionism. This focuses mainly on how the individual interacts with others, and how others influence the individual behaviors that impact society in a micro or macro way. The second theoretical framework is the conflict theory, it examines the rift between the rich and the poor and how it affects the quality of education, health care, and living condition of said group. Thirdly, the functionalist theory, which compares society to a system of interrelated parts, it s a social system not just an individual. Each frame work plays part in the issue when an economy declines which causes many families to lose their jobs. Single mothers lose their jobs and go into prostitution as a mean of support. CHAPTER I: INTRODUCTION In this review there are three main paradigm: Functionalist theory, symbolic interactionist theory, and conflict theory. The functionalist theory compares society to a system of interrelated parts. It looks at society more as system not as an individual. Symbolic interactionism focuses on how the individual interacts with others in a society and how others influences that individual; what impact does that have on a society. Conflict theory examines the rift between the rich and the poor and how it affects the quality of education, health care, and living condition of said group. In this review ... • 13. Diversity Is The Equal Coexistence Of Diverse Cultures,... Introduction In America, past and present, we are faced with many challenges pertaining to diversity. Diversity is defined as the presence of human beings with perceived or actual differences based on a variety of human characteristics (Koppelman 2014). A challenge of diversity faced is on American Education. Education is most important because our future society depends on it and if we did not have it our future would most certainly fail. Learning and schooling is critical for everyone to gain knowledge and continue leading our diverse society forward into the right direction. Since diversity is a common issue relating to students who have gone through these situations there have been many intense debates and legal cases (Dey 2008). Education in America needs to have more pluralism, where all diverse groups can have the same mutual respect. Pluralism is the equal coexistence of diverse cultures, institutions, and/or individuals within mutually supportive relationship within the boundaries of one nation (Koppelman 2009). In a pluralistic society all the groups in the society should be taught about each other s diverse cultures, historical events, and so on in school so it can all be fair. Some parents and teachers felt that there were no benefits for the students to learn about multicultural education (Koppelman 2009). There are so many things that can be done to correct the challenge of diversity to American education and so many reasons why there are challenges in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 14. Concussion Frameworks For Concussions There are enough concussion protocols to determine a concussion, but there are not enough protocols for preventing concussions for Football Athletes. The SCAT5 Assessment Tool does provide beneficial and accurate tests to determine concussions. The protocols for recovery and return to play are very detailed and straightforward so there is no further damage or impairments to the brain. Although, concussions are still happening at high rates, especially in football because they are not being fully prevented, they are only being treated after they happen. The SCAT5 Assessment Tool, also known as Sport Concussion Assessment Tool, is a variety of tests for athletes, given by an AT or physician, to determine whether an athlete has a concussion. The SCAT5 Tool is made up of the On Field Assessment and the Off Field Assessment . Some tests that make up the On Field Assessment are determining any Red Flags or obvious signs of a concussion such as double vision, nausea, headache, fogginess , and memory loss. This section is also made up of testing the athlete s memory, using the Glasgow Coma Scale , and a Cervical Spine Assessment. The tests and sections that make up the Off Field Assessment are the athletes general information and background information, evaluating the athlete s symptoms and the severity of the symptoms, Cognitive Screenings, and Neurological Screenings. The task for our group was to visually show impaired waters on a map with an overlay of the drought conditions at a certain time period. Results from the project were ambiguous. We were able to show a statistical correlation between drought and water impairments. However, these results were not always consistent due to the variation in the data. Impairment data is recorded every two years; however, the exact time during that year and weather conditions at that moment the samples are taken are not recorded. Other issues with this data were the lack of consistency in where the test stations are located from year to year. Weather data on the other hand is taken on a daily basis from consistent locations and drought data is compiled every month. Trying to merge or over lay these two types of data proved to be difficult. Due to these issues it is import to point out that correlation does not imply causation. • 18. Importance of Recycling at the University Essay Importance of Recycling at the University I remember my first semester here at the University and the dark halls of the Bates House Residence Hall. Many a party was concluded with an idea for what to do with the endless piles of cans that had congregated on the floor. One idea, I remember, was to wall someone into his room and another was to see how many we could stand on end without toppling. But, we usually just ended up throwing them in the trashcans in our refuse room. Sometimes out of the five trashcans in the room set aside for trash disposal, three or four would be completely filled with hundreds of cans of various beverages. The truth is, however, that with the amount of money the University spends on other endeavors, it cannot afford not to update its recycling campaign. The only way to do that is to help make recycling appeal to more of the vast student population that currently attends our University. How might this be done? The University already places a recycling bin in every dorm room around the campus; anything more would exceed the current funding for the recycling project. Perhaps the institution of a recycling center at the Russell House could cause the impulse to become a habit. But, that would take too much money with the salaries of workers and the annexing of what would amount to a new wing of the building to consider for too long. Another solution could be to have the students elect a recycling committee to evaluate the problem and decide on the appropriate solution. However, I feel that with the current lull in our recycling campaign, even that would be ineffective. As an altrenative to these two solutions I propose that we, as students and faculty united, institute a plan that is so simple it is already in place in many of the high schools around the state. I propose a system of rewards. How many of us have walked past the Russell House only to hear the cry, Free T shirt for your application? Franchising According to Hill, Jones, and Schilling (2015), franchising is a strategy in which the franchisor or the founding company grants the franchisees, the purchasing company, the right to use the franchisor s name, reputation, and business model in return for a franchise fee and often a percentage fee and often a percentage of the profit. The business must operate under strict guidelines, follow the rules, regulations, and standards given by the founding franchisors (Hill, et al 2015, p. 182). This creates a business relationship between the two. According to Ribeiro, D., Akehurst, G. P. Franchises brings together independent companies and establish agreements between two parties. In nuclear chemistry, isotopes are shown in the following form: Chlorine 35 is written as 35Cl and Rubidium 85 is written as 85Rb Isotopes can be divided in two categories, radioactive and stable. Stable Isotopes are isotopes that are not radioactive. They have stable nuclei and pose no known physiological skills Radioactive Isotopes is when the atom is unstable, it will attempt to gain stability by emitting radiation in one of the three main forms. A substance is radioactive when it emits this radiation. There are three types of radiation: α (alpha), β (beta) and γ (gamma) radiation: Alpha Decay: is made of helium nucleus (2 protons and 2 neutrons) that are ejected from unstable large nuclei. Alpha radiation usually results when there are too many protons and neutrons in the nucleus for it to be stable. For example, the decay of uranium 238: Beta Decay: is made up of electrons ejected from an unstable nucleus (too may neutrons); but nuclei do not contain electrons. • 31. Analysis Of The Prologue By Anne Bradstreet Tierra Nick Professor Parker ENG 202 01 5 October 2017 The Prologue By Anne Bradstreet Anne Bradstreet s poem, The Prologue , is about the struggle of women in a Puritan Society. In the Puritan Society, women are held to a certain standard. Women were not able to speak their mind, openly show they were educated, or express themselves freely, because it was looked down on. The Prologue , is titled to mark the beginning of her work. In this poem, Bradstreet acknowledges her role as a woman in a Puritan society, but also makes a brave attempt to achieve freedom from the Puritan Society. Bradstreet is on a mission to prove to the Puritan society that women are worthy enough to do what men do. Bradstreet fights for feminism. Bradstreet begins her poem by acknowledging those superior to her: To sing of wars, of captains, and of kings Of cities founded, commonwealths begun For my mean pen are too superior things Or how they all, or each their dates have run Let poets and historians set these forth My obscure lines shall not so dim their worth (Bradstreet 1 6) In lines 1 6, she explains that she is aware of those who contributed to society, because they have accomplished great things, things that she cannot take away from them. She states she will not discuss them because her mean pen are too superior things (Bradstreet 3). Bradstreet uses too to reference her work as being also superior. She wishes to leave it to them to talk about history without criticizing their worth and the same should be done for her. She adds the word obscure (Bradstreet 6), to acknowledge her lines are hidden using a form of symbolism. Symbolizing that most women are hiding their truths. Her point goes into further detail in stanza 2. Bradstreet begins stanza 2, But when my wond ring eyes and envious heart/Great Bartas sugared lines do but read o er (Bradstreet 7 8). Bradstreet in some way degrades her poetry, just like the Puritan society would do. She talks about another poet Barta. When she reads his poems they seem so great and she envy s him. • 33. Leadership Skills to Manage Diversity in the Military Essay 5: How Do Leaders Manage Diversity In The Military? Introduction Given the proliferation of missions that often have multiple objectives aligned to counterterrorism, humanitarian aid, and national defense, the alacrity at which the armed forces are expected to integrate and quickly deliver results in a foreign nation is increasing. The cross cultural competency (3C) model is designed as a foundation for streamlining the cultural assimilation process, providing leaders and subordinates with a more efficient approach to quickly understanding and become effective in a culture different than one s own (Abbe, Gulick, Herman, 2007). As the alacrity and intensity of cultural assimilation is increasing across all branches of the military, combined with greater levels of mission complexity and required collaboration of foreign governments and agencies, developing a effective 3C model is essential for mission success. The intent of this analysis is to provide insights into how leaders can manage diversity more effectively in the military, especially those called upon to serve in cultures significantly different than one s own. Training in cross cultural competency often includes references to the Hofstede Model of Cultural Dimensions and the specific attributes of collectivism versus individuality, two potentially polarizing aspects of military leadership in foreign regions (Goodman, 2012). Importance Of Curriculum For Excellence Essay Curriculum for Excellence emphasises that all children are entitled to a learning experience where they feel secure, accepted and valued as members of their class and school community. Learning environments which have a positive influence on children, achieved by promoting inclusion and equality, are essential to the Scottish curriculum (CfE, 2004). Getting It Right for Every Child (2007) policy supports this. Their aspiration is for all children to be fully supported as they grow into Successful Learners, Confident Individuals, Effective Contributors and Responsible Citizens. Therefore, teachers and practitioners have a responsibility in ensuring children are nurtured, achieving and included. However, although many children gain the most they can from the learning opportunities that schools provide, some will struggle to benefit fully from their learning experiences without additional help and support (COP, 2010). The Education (Scotland) (Additional Support for Learning) Act 2004 (as amended 2009) (hereafter, ASfL Act), provides the legal definition for Additional Support Needs (ASN): A child or young person has additional support needs for the purposes of this Act, where for whatever reason, the young person is or is likely to ... However, only few civilizations have actually used mythology to write about the truth , one of them being the people of the ancient Japanese civilization. The truth is a representation of how each civilization views the beginning of the world and how it affects the civilization today. Japanese mythologies have incorporated historical truth into their mythologies. This is important because understanding the past allows for cultural development in the future. Chris Kincaid, an accredited blogger on the Japan Powered website, states: Like all mythology, it was considered factually true and Truth through most of history (1). This means that the purpose of the mythologies, such as the Kojiki and Nihongi, was to report factual evidence while speculating how the world came to be. The use of mythology was a mechanism used as a means to engage the common man and help come up with explanations to things that were not proven by scientific fact.
