Current Scenario of Entrepreneurship Education in India
Delhi Government – Introduced Entrepreneurship curriculum for all government schools from
class 9th to 12th and Colleges, which is activity based (no exams),
Budget allocated 50 Cr for Schools
AICTE Startup Policy – Introduced AICTE Startup Policy for AICTE approved Institutions to
promote student driven startups with a curriculum which must have 30 percent Attitude
related courses.
Bihar, Gujrat, Jammu & Kashmir and Rajasthan Governments are already implementing AICTE
Startup Policy.
CBSE – Introduced Entrepreneurship course for class 11th
Atal Innovation Mission – Started with the budget of 150 Cr
Government of India – “Startup India Mission“ is promoting Entrepreneurship across the
nation –Total fund marked 25,000 Cr & Fund allocated 10,000 Cr
Startup India Policy – 19 States Implemented Startup Policy

Global Perspective...
According to a study by the Kaufmann Foundation, 85 percent of new jobs are created by startups. Entrepreneurship
education helps to introduce students to the idea of “making a job” instead of “taking a job.”
Having empowered 30,000 elementary and middle school students to launch real businesses, the TREP$ program has become a
well-known initiative to over 120 schools in New Jersey and New York.
Inculcating entrepreneurship knowledge in the minds of people in their early development, is very crucial in any economic
development. Entrepreneurship Education meant for early childhood education (ECD), up to Senior Secondary level,Education
Directorate, in Kanifing, Africa.
I fully support the Department of Education’s advocacy to require senior high school students from all strands take an
Entrepreneurship subject. preparing students for livelihood even before college. However, one of our considerations should be
that entrepreneurship is a course best taught in an applied manner beyond the confines of a traditional classroom.
