High Point High School is an incredibly diverse school located in Beltsville, Maryland that serves students from several surrounding areas. It has a history of racial integration efforts since its founding in 1954. Today, the student body has high percentages of African American, Hispanic, and economically disadvantaged students. There are also issues with teacher quality and tensions between racial groups. A school improvement plan aims to increase safety, decrease tardiness, and encourage students to remain in school.
