- 2. In order to extent the Media Knowledge I have I used a variety of technologies to construct the three main projects . The construction and research and evaluation stages are important because it contributed into the music video the Digipak and Website. The technologies ranged from a mobile phone and Bubbl.us. My understanding of different Technologies has advanced from last year because I have more time to consolidate information. Also over the summer I undertook some research were I discovered new technologies, to present my findings within my blog
- 3. There are many aspects of the research that was different in comparison to last year as a media student. Firstly the research this year is in more depth as I looked at previous artist work and more theorist. Whilst investigating music videos we looked at different theories like Andrew Goodwin and Binary Opposites. In order to notice these theories I viewed historic videos to have a but understanding and appreciation of a variety of theorist findings . Another difference in comparison to last year is there was more organization whilst looking at our research . I was more prepared for the type of research I was going to be doing therefore I organized myself better in order to ensure my research was completed on time .
- 4. My research in AS is not as extensive as in A2 because my presentation knowledge has increased . In order to conduct my research I looked at Youtube to view music videos from different genres . This was effective because I had a better understanding of the genre conventions . Looking at Youtube helped me pick what music genre I wanted to create my music video for. Youtube was a create piece of techo0nlogy because I looked at artist work from different generations and I was able to identify the different technologies used in music videos . I have improved as AS student because I looked at current and historic music videos and last year I focused on opening title sequences created by previous media students. Youtube was one of the main sources used for my research.
- 5. I used another technology called Vevo , this is a ernbsite similar to Youtube however the main difference is the Vevo only shoes music videos by estabilsded artist. I used this website because it gave me a better understanding of the conventions used in popular videos . I did not use this technology last because it has no revelance . However it would have been helpful if I found a website specificly showing thriller opening title sequences.
- 6. My auditing skills have improved as a Media student because I have uploaded more videos on to Youtube in comparison to last year. For example we looked at an inspirational music video and instead of producing our findings on a word document , we choose to upload our findings on to Youtube. In order to upload our findings we had to use a camera and microphone to film our findings. Last year we only used the camera twice , an example of this is when we created our final thriller opening title sequence . This is a clear indication that our creativity has improved because we have developed an understanding of how to present our work differently. As it is entertaining for the people who are viewing our blog , as we would usually create a PowerPoint for our findings .
- 7. The technologies I used to present my planning is more complex in comparison to the technologies used last. One of the main differences is the distribution of work . This year as a group we equally divided the work out , to ensure that everyone was making a fair contribution to the planning . A key difference is between last year is there is an emphasis on focusing on the genre conventions and ensuring that we were prepared for filming.
- 8. A technology used for my planning was bubbl.us , this piece of software was useful because it enabled to mind map potential ideas for our final video . For example when planning the website , I constructed a mind map of the things I thought the website should include. This was very helpful because it ensured the important pieces of information was in our blog .
- 9. The selection of the music for the video, required us to use three types of technologies those were : Musicalley , garage band , ITunes. Musicalley is an website that has copyright free music. The website enables people to spherically select the type of genre of music they want to listen to . This helped us narrow down our search as we only listened to music from the genre. The next technology we used to convert the song was called Garageband this convert the song into a MP3 file . The last piece of software we used was called ITunes , this is the software that stored the converted song .Although this was a long process it was effective because it the song was converted with the best quality .
- 10. Microsoft Excel was a piece of technology that I used when I was creating the budget , for the music video . I have developed as a Media student because last year I did not use this technology for the budget . Excel is a great piece of software because it can do calculations for you ; this saves time and it makes solving mathematical problems easier to solve. This piece of software was also user friendly , I had no difficulties using the software .
- 11. When creating our products we had to find a type of font that could be used on both the Digipak and the website. The type of technology I used to find the most appropriate type of font was called Da font. After looking at a variety of texts a font called Subway. This was the most appropriate because it meets the genre conventions , as the font style is graffiti. Therefore this font style would attract our chosen audience . My knowledge has advanced because last year I selected a font that thought looked most athletically pleasing and I did not take into consideration the genre conventions .
- 12. In order to edit our video we used a technology called Final cut express . D’mee had the responsibility of taking the lead in editing however I still contributed my ideas. For example it was my idea to have a fast pace editing scene to catch the attention from the audience . Final Cut Express was a brilliant piece of software because it allows you to see every fine detail in order to prefect a piece of footage. For example in editing you were able to see the transition o scenes and see if they work and if the editing was not correct then Final cut Express allows you to change it .
- 13. Photoshop was the software I used to create the Digipak , I have developed my skills from last year , as this is the first time that I have used this software . I had to learn how to insert images and edit them. Photoshop was not the easiest piece of software to use however I had to persevere and try different techniques to try and create the final Digipak. Moreover using this software taught me that are many routes in order to complete the same objective.
- 14. To create our final music video we used a Digital camera , everyone had the opportunity to use the camera when we was filming. In one of the scenes we used 2 cameras to ensure that we had the best footage. When filming we used the camera stand to move the camera at different height levels , this ensured we had the best shot within the mise en scene .I have developed my skills form last year because filming took longer because we only used one camera however this year we discovered using to cameras would get a variety of camera angles .
- 15. In the design process of creating our anciryll text we had to find images to place on to them . The piece of technology we used is called Google images. For example one of the smoke images used on the Digipak was found on Google images; this images was also used within the website . Moreover when we was desiging the website , I found a variety of images to include on the website , to attract the audience .
- 16. The designated designer for the website was Gianni however she required help from me and D’mee as this is a big task. The programme used to create the website is called Wix . This technology had not been used neither members of te group, therefore it required us to be very attentive. I helped Gianni choose the layout of the website and suggested things I thougt was important to include. AN example of this is to include tour dates on the website and suggesting what images to include.
- 17. The evaluation is different in comparison to last year because there are less questions to answer , however it has to be in much more depth. In order to show a range of my skills I thought it was important to show a range of technologies . when I created my evaluation last year I ensured the information was there but I did not show a range of ways to present my findings in comparison to this year. The main difference of this unit is you have to try and consolidate your information and present it different ways , to entertain the reader.
- 18. Prezi is one of the technologies I have used throughout the creation of my products. Prezi is technology that is very interactive and it very aesthetically pleasing . It enables you to create a presentation that is best suited to you , as you can draw the shapes of each slide and I also had the ability to include Youtube videos. I am using Prezi to present question one , I thought this was the most useful software because I can include a range of images directly from Google onto one slide. Therefore this piece of technology is both pragmatic and saves time.
- 19. In order to present one of my evaluation question I have used Final cut express to create a video for question 2. This piece of technology allows me to place images to compliment the digetic sound , which is my voice. Final Cut express allows me to edit the transition of each still image .I had to also use a flip Camera to record my voice . It was not necessary to have a large camera as my main concern was focusing on the sound not the visuals .
- 20. Screen grab was the technology I have frequently used in my evaluation, as this is the tool I used to copulate my evidence. It is important when evaluating something , you have evidence to support what you are saying and screen grabbing enables me to do so. This technology was also used when creating the Digipak and Website.
- 21. Overall , my knowledge of different media technologies has improved and I feel confident to use these technologies in the future. As a Media student I have learnt that there is always different ways of presenting and finding information. The more creative you are in presenting information , the more likely the reader is enjoy reading it .
