Jeff Cassell, VP of Corporate Risk Management for Laidlaw, implemented quantitative risk analysis tools called RiskMap after attending a presentation by Alan Cantor. RiskMap was used to systematically assess the effectiveness of Laidlaw's driver training programs. Through monthly RiskMap analyses, Cassell documented the impact of new training methods on losses in dollars. This allowed Laidlaw to gain better control over losses and convince actuaries to reduce loss cost projections. In the end, Laidlaw achieved greater risk control, reduced losses, and lowered insurance reserves.
