CORPORACIÓN EDUCATIVA JEAN
             PIAGET
 The Jean Piaget High
 School is located in
 the outskirts of
 Florencia city in one of
 the furthest
 neighborhoods. We
 developed this project
 with the A1 English
 level at this High
 School.
WHY TO AWARE STUDENTS ABOUT
 ADDICTIONS?

 It is not a secret for anyone that nowadays
students are very susceptible to fall into any
addiction. It is our concern as teachers to be
assured to prevent learners fall in that terrible
  world.
A1 ENGLISH COURSE

 This project was carried
out with the A1 level at
  the Jean Piaget High
  School. There are 19
  students, 10 women and
9 men. The range of ages
  is from 14 to 16.
ADDICTIONS DEVELOPED DURING THE PROJECT

  videogames facebook alcohol
PROCESS
In order to involve all students in the activities,
we asked them to form 5 groups. Each group
developed a different addiction during the
project. There were different activities such
   as:
 Introducing topics (Videos)
 Create posters against addictions and explain
   them.
 Present the posters describing the
disadvantages of being an addicted person.
 Role plays
 Reflecting about addictions (Los simpsons)
 Conclusions

CONCLUSIONS

 As a result of the entire project we realized
that learners are highly motivated by
teacher’s attitude. Students worked in a good
way and they had a nice response to the
activities planned in task and project based
without being pushed or forced by the
  teacher.
 Results of the analysis show that learner learn
best when they work in groups in which there
is a monitor who helps the entire group. For
instance, they help each other to improve
their weaknesses, this helps to enhance the
whole group motivation and to improve their
performance in every single skill, the results
are going to be better than working
  individually in the activities.
 Working with task and project based learning
makes the learning process more meaningful
and contextualized in real life situations
so, the students get more involved in the
activities because it fits in a good way to their
needs and for instance, the teacher talking
time would be decreased in a high
percentage. This fact improves the learners’
  communicative skills.
 If the project based is done in order to solve a
problem which is presented in the students’
context; the learning process will be more
meaningful and students will try to use the
  language communicatively focusing on
meaning but not in form. So they will not be
  concerned about mistakes and improving
their performance. At this point the teacher’s
role is very needed in order to correct
  student´s slips
