Objectives:
Assimilate the disaster risk reduction and
management in basic education framework.
To identify and discuss hazards in the school.
To value the importance of SDRRM guidelines
during Brigada Eskwela Evaluation
Republic Act (RA) 10121
(Philippine Disaster Risk Reduction
and Management act of 2021)
Republic Act (RA) 9155
(Governance of Basic Education)
- Vested the Department of Education with the authority,
accountability, and responsibility to ensure access to basic
education which is often disrupted by emergencies and disaster.
-Mandated all government agencies to institutionalize
policies, structures, coordination mechanisms and programs
with continuing budget appropriation on disaster risk
reduction and management national to local levels.

A. Protect learners and education workers
from death, and harm in school;
B. Plan for educational continuity in the face
of expected hazards and threats;
C.Safeguarding education sector
investments; and
D.Strengthen risk reduction and resilience
thorough education.
The Three Pillars
SCHOOL SAFETY AND
PREPAREDNESS GUIDE
1. Facilitate the assessment of school building structure
and electrical wiring and make necessary repairs
and/or upgrades to prevent unnecessary incidents.
2. Repair minor classroom damages.
3. Install appropriate and available fire suppression.
4. Make sure that corridors and pathways are
unobstructed.
5. Clean and clear drainage to prevent clogging.
I. SAFE LEARNING FACILITIES
6. Cordon off and post safety signage for on-going
construction, unfinished, damaged and condemned
buildings.
7. Secure cabinets and drawers.
8. Post safety measures in laboratories and
workshops.
9. Prepare an evacuation/exit plan and directional
signage on every floor of the building.
10. Prune trees.
11. Identify evacuation areas and classrooms that
may be used as temporary shelters during disasters
and emergencies.

II. SCHOOL DISASTER
MANAGEMENT
Post a directory of emergency contact numbers
of relevant government agencies and officers, in
various areas of the school.
Establish and maintain early warning
mechanisms in the school.
Equip school with first aid kits, flashlights,
megaphones, and other supplies necessary in
cases of emergency.
Identify alternative sources and/or maintain
supply of drinking water within the school.

Ensure that learners, teachers, and personnel have
identification cards with relevant information.
Create database of learners with the contact details
of their immediate family
members/relatives/guardians.
Secure and safety store vital school records.

Document accidents experienced by students and
personnel within the school to improve prevention
and mitigation measures.

Embracing the New Normal: To make sure that education will continue to be delivered to the
young learners the school have conducted orientation to parents to equipped them with
necessary instructional skills they will need in the continuous implementation of distance
learning.
Practicing Health Protocols: Parents and Guardians are strictly practicing
health protocols during the orientation of parents in the implementation of
distance learning.
