How to Create Multiple
Streams of Income With
Freelance Writing
In this webinar we're going to look at two different topics.
First off, we’re going to look at some common questions that
writers have about obtaining work.
Secondly, we’re going to look at several options for making
money from writing. Specifically, I’m going to share my
marketing strategies with you.
So here we go. I’m going to list a whole bunch of questions
and give a response. Some of what you’ll see will be on
these slides, though most of it will be verbal, so I
recommend that you take good notes.
The number one question I receive is: “How to find freelance
writing/editing gigs that pay fair wage?” (Or some variation
of this.)
The first thing you need to know is that a job and freelance
writing are two different things.
If you’re looking for a job, you’re an employee and probably
in a 9-5 position.
If you’re a freelance writer, you work for several different
clients under contract, whether that’s short or long-term.
And while it’s possible to “get a job,” you’re setting yourself
up for major disappointment, largely because you’ll be
competing with other writers for the same position. In my
program, I show you how to go straight to the source This
was the topic of my last webinar.
Here are some more questions:
“Can I make a living with writing? How do I get started?”
The answer is: “Yes and yes, though you need to give
yourself time to build a relatively consistent income stream.”
As for the second part, how to get started, I covered that
question in my last webinar.
“How can I manage writing without interfering with all my
other daily activities and keep a good balance?”
Here’s how:
• Discipline
• Scheduling
• Consistency
“How do I deal with freelancing and the prospect of
uncertain income?”
This is a variation of the question that was asked previously.
The simplest answer is that you need to build up a list of
clients that you write for on a regular basis.
This is what I did. I was writing for as many as eight
magazines at once.
Also, you must keep your marketing going. Remember the
80/20 rule.
“My question is, if you've written for many years for a
publication, and they suddenly seem displeased, is there a
way to get back in their favor?”
There’s no guarantee of that. First off, you need to find out
what went wrong.
Secondly, you need to find out if you can remedy the
situation. If you can, great. If not, it’s a clear indication that
it’s time to move on.
It’s important to realize that the problem might not have
anything to do with you, but you won’t know until you ask.

In this section, I’m going to cover the importance of building
a website and why it’s essential to your marketing strategy
and long-term success.
First off, the website is where you showcase your writing
examples. It’s also a place to give information about pricing,
a biography and if you have items to sell, ordering
information for products, services and more.
I’m going to take you through the process of how I built my
site and talk about list building.
List building is the heart of all your marketing efforts. This is
how you keep in contact with all of your clients and it’s also
a way to market other services, such as reports you’ve
written and/or affiliate products.
So let’s get into it. There are a lot of steps involved and as I
go through this, I’m going to use screen shots and also give
you website resource info that I’ll paste into the chat box so
you can retrieve it later.
The Online Process of Marketing
2. Install it on a hosting service (Hostgator.com is good for
this and relatively inexpensive)
3. Find an autoresponder service (I recommend aweber.com)
4. Use a free or paid template. I recommend
OptimizePress.com because it will make your life a lot easier
when building your site.
5. Write a free report that gives out valuable information about your
product/service and makes customers hungry for more
6. Build a squeeze page to give highlights of your product/service and a call
to action - why they should sign up for your info. Integrate a signup form for
your autoresponder on this page.

7. Have the squeeze page direct to a sales page or order page for your
product/service
8. Use an ecommerce solution on your page for ordering,
such as ClickBank.com or PayPal.com
9. After ordering and payment, redirect the customer to
another signup form. This stores names on a list of paid
customers.
10. Once the signup is complete, the customer is sent to a
thank-you page to access/download the product/service and
they also receive an email confirmation with their receipt
and downloading instructions.
11. After that, you want to send regular messages to with
prospects with an email newsletter
12. Find other products free/paid to offer to your list,
keeping value in mind at all times. A great source for these
programs is AssociatePrograms.com
Associate Programs is a really good site for affiliate
programs; it also contains great Internet marketing
information.
Another great marketing product is Desperate Buyers Only. I
bought this product years ago and I recommend it.
