- #3: Many of you are familiar with CCC as a result of our licensing services, but few may know that we’ve been handling author charges on behalf of publishers for a long time Not many people realize that CCC has been actively processing author payments for a decade, and for the last two and half years we’ve been having a very extensive dialogue with stakeholders that are concerned with OA, so universities, authors, funders, and publishers, of course. Due to the role that we play in the market, we’ve had quite a bit of success in pulling folks together to talk about what the respective roles are, what’s fair to expect from publishers, and what a solution would look like, going forward, that everybody can live with and can get value from, and we’re going to show you some of that today. Please be sure to check out our Open Access Resource Center website for links to webinars, reports and other valuable information. Like you we’ve learned that the existing tools, the existing processes that are being used to process payments are not going to work or need to be tuned-up. So we set out to build a brand-new platform, it’s RightsLink for Open Access, it’s based on the best practices and successful components from our earlier solutions, along with lots of brand new functionality.
