- 2. What you need: * Oven * 9" baking pan * Bowl * Flour * Sugar * Baking Powder * Baking Soda * Salt * Vanilla * Butter Milk * Shorting * Eggs * Tooth Pick * Cooling Rack * Timer * plug * Electric mixer
- 3. To make a cake is easy. You just need to have the right supplies and be ready to follow the directions. And enjoy some cake too!
- 4. First have your oven heated to 350 degrees.
- 5. Then in a bowl combine 2 1/2 cups of flour, 2 cups of sugar, 1 teaspoon of baking powder, 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda, and 1/8 teaspoon of salt.
- 6. After you added the dry ingredients, then add to your bowl, 1 1/3 cup of butter milk, 1/2 cup of shorting, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla
- 7. Next beat the batter with an electric mixer on low speed for 30 seconds, scraping the bowl. Then beat on medium for 2 more minutes scraping the bowl occasionally.
- 8. After you mixed the batter until it was smooth add the 2 cups of flour, and 4 egg whites. Again mix the batter for 2 more minutes on medium.
- 9. Then after you mixed the batter, pour it into a 9" greased baking pan. Then put the pan in the oven.
- 10. After the batter bakes in the oven for 30-35 minutes insert a toothpick into the center of the cake. If the toothpick comes out dirty or with cake crumbs on it put the cake back in the oven for about 5 more minutes.
- 11. Then let the cake cool outside the oven for 10 minutes. Make sure you turn the oven off!
- 12. Once the cake is cooled down cut the cake into 6 pieces.
