![HOW TO SET UP A TWITTER ACCOUNT
1. Go to: http://twitter.com
2. Click the big yellow, “SIGN UP” button on right
3. Enter the information as asked:
Full Name: Your full, legal name
User Name: The name you want others to find when searching for you
[Example: John_C_Smith_Sales_Director]
Use underscore (_) marks for better chance at available name
Password: The longer, the better. Add numbers to make it more secure
Email: Enter the email address you want to be contacted through
4. Opt-In Boxes – There are two opt-in boxes on this page. Both are already checked
and will activate unless you uncheck them (click on them to do this). The first opt-in
box allows others to find you via your email address and the second one allows
Twitter to send periodic announcements to you.
5. It may take a couple of tries to get all of the account information accepted for
you to create your new account. Any duplication of information with other existing
Twitter accounts will reject your entry. Keep trying – there are many creative
solutions to securing your Twitter account.
6. When all of the information is approved, click the, “CREATE MY ACCOUNT” button.
7. INTERESTS – This page allows you to select which interests you would like to follow
with your account. The more of these you follow, the more tweets you will receive
from others with similar interests. For a business-only Twitter account, you may
wish to only follow business related interests.
8. FRIENDS – Again, if this is just a business-only account for you, you may wish to keep
this list filled with only business contacts. Several icons of sources for searches appear
here (Gmail, Yahoo, etc.), all of which may offer access for you to build your friends list.
9. A Confirmation Email will be sent to the email address you entered for this new account.
Go to your email and follow the instructions to activate your new Twitter account and
you’re ready to begin!
