Crowdfunding is a way to raise funds for a specific cause or project by

After you’ve completed your payment
processing setup, sign into your
GoFundMe Charity account.
Click your profile menu on the top right-
hand side of your screen.
Click Account.
Click Donate Button.
Click Create donate button to start
customizing.

CUSTOMIZING YOUR DONATE BUTTON
Donate Button Details:
Button Name (required): Title this donate button.
This isn’t displayed anywhere that donors can see it, it’s only to help organize things
behind-the-scenes.
Button Text: The call-to-action words displayed on your button.
Logo: Add your organization’s logo to ensure your donors feel safe and secure!
Theme Color: Select your organization’s brand colors for buttons and navigation
bars.

DONATE FORM STEP 1: DONATION OPTIONS
Headline: large text across the top of the form.
Donation Frequency: choose what options to give your donors: one-time donation
only, recurring monthly donations, or both.
One-Time Donation Values: the preset amounts available to choose from when a
donor has opted to make a one-time donation (they can always type in their own
amount by clicking CUSTOM)
Recurring Donation Values: the preset amounts available to choose from when a
donor has opted to make a monthly recurring donation
Donor Comments: choose whether or not donors can include a comment with their
donation (enabled by default). These comments are not displayed anywhere
online, but are available to you in your report center.

Now you’re ready to add it to your website! You have 2 options:
Copy and paste the full HTML code provided to add the button to your website.
Choose this option if you don’t currently have a donate button, or if you want to
replace the button you already have.
Copy the URL only to replace in the code for your existing donate button.
Choose this option if you like the design of the button you already have on your web
site, you just want it to point to GoFundMe Charity instead of your current provider.

TIPS FOR USING THE
CAMPAIGN UPDATE TOOL
Using the Campaign Update tool at strategic times during
your campaign (such as halfway or close-to goal) helps
generate excitement and a sense of urgency in your
donors.
Use photos to convey impact.
Snap a live video of your work in the field (where possible).
Send it out to everyone that donated to demonstrate impact.
Announce stretch goals.
Thank people for donating, and ask them to consider starting
their own fundraiser!

Send an email or letter to each of your new donors that specifically addresses the
impact of their gift.
Talk to your donor about the lives their changing and the work they’re now a part of.
Share a special video or photograph of your clients or work in the field.
Share at least 2-3 nonprofit stories with your donors, providing a “zoomed out” view
about why your organization is involved in your line of work and how your donor
plays a role in that success.

DONATE BUTTON: QUICK START CHECKLIST
1. Check out our available payment processors.
2. Sign into your GoFundMe Charity account. Click your profile menu on the top right hand side of your
screen. Click Account. Click Donate Button. Click Create donate button to start customizing.
3. Add Donate Button details.
4. Add a Headline.
5. Choose what options to give your donors: one-time donation only, recurring monthly donations, or both.
6. Choose whether or not to allow anonymous donations (enabled by default).
7. If you’d like to direct donors to a specific page after they complete their contribution, enter the URL in
the Donation Confirmation Page field.
8. Click Create to save the button.
9. Add the button to your website by copying and pasting the full HTML code or copying the URL only to
replace in the code for your existing donate button.

This isn’t displayed anywhere that donors can see it, it’s only to help organize things behind-the-scenes. Button Text: The call-to-action words displayed on your button. Donation Frequency: choose what options to give your donors: one-time donation only, recurring monthly donations, or both.
